"LITTLE
BY LITTLE" TRACKS
Opening
and Closing
I consider the creation of this CD to be a meditation, and
so it opens and closes - as does my daily sit - with the
sounding of my singing bowl.
Little By Little (clip)
The title track. This song, and this CD, are all about
being on the path home, and I dedicate them to all whom
have shared, are sharing, and will share their paths with
me.

Do That Thing (clip)
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to
draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and
creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of
which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the
moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence
moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would
never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events
issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner
of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material
assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come
his way. I learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s
couplets: Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin
it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it
now.”
- W.H. Murray, from "The Scottish Himalayan Expedition"
A celebration of being in the body and in the moment, and
of doing what we love. Shall we dance?

Be Still (clip)
A song about meditation, one of the big things that helps
ME be in the body and in the moment. What works for YOU?
Be Still

I Am Walking (clip)
Another song about meditation. In "Life Of Buddha", a
recent BBC video, a Buddhist monk says that if he had to
explain Buddhism in two words, those words would be
"practice mindfulness". Breathing, sitting, walking,
standing, lying down - any position or any moment in which
we find ourselves is the perfect position or moment to
practice mindfulness.
The piece builds, with very simple repetitive parts, to
help create a chant-like effect. May its energy touch you
in whatever position or moment you're in right now.

I Can
See You (clip)
Another important idea in Buddhism is metta, or
lovingkindness. The four lines on my home page are metta
phrases. (Try them - they WORK!)
May (I, you, we) be filled with lovingkindness.
May (I, you, we) be safe from inner and outer dangers.
May (I, you, we) be well in body and mind.
May (I, you, we) be at ease and happy.
Before we can begin to truly love others, we must love
ourselves.
This song is for my/your inner child, to let them know that
they are no longer alone with their old hurts.

Breathe (clip)
For my dear wife Sheila, inspired by an exercise in Charles
and Caroline Muir's book, "Tantra: The Art Of Conscious
Loving", for synchronizing the breath of yourself and your
partner. (I highly recommend that you try the exercise
yourself!)

More
Than Enough (clip)
"Whatever we have done with our lives makes us what we are
when we die. And everything, absolutely everything,
counts."
- Sogyal Rimpoche, from "Glimpse of the Day"
This song is about gratitude for the small AND truly
important things in life - because everything counts.

Just Like This (clip)
Another song for my dear wife Sheila, who so beautifully
models lovingkindness and joy (glee!). May our cherished
moments together add up to a lifetime's worth of sweet
memories.

Choose
Love (clip)
“You have no recourse but to try love on. Be patient, dear
friends. You are working with denser substance than the
consciousness that brought you here. The act of
transformation must be given its time in the world of time.
Fear is tenacious. The intellect will cling to fear. It has
created it.
Illusion has formed your human world. Your world cannot
return to Light until all parts of it are remembered in the
essence of Perfect Love. Each time you choose love, you
transform a piece of forgetting into remembering. Each time
you honour Self, you allow your life to be lived fully. the
Light of that Self transforms darkness. Every time you
remember who you are, you take the illusion of forgetting
and bring it back Home. You, as Gods, created this illusion
for the purpose of knowing the nature of love where love
seemed not to be.
As you love, you transform what had not been loved back
into its essence. When the last soul remembers to choose
love, your entire planet will return Home, and with it
every star you see in the heavens.
- Emmanuel, from "Emmanuel's Book II: The Choice For Love"
(by Pat Rodegast & Judith Stanton), my favourite book
of all time.
This song is my affirmation for choosing love.

Here And
Now (clip)
"In the end, when we look at our life, the questions will
be simple: Did I live fully? Did I love well?"
- Jack Kornfield, from "The Art of Forgiveness,
Lovingkindness and Peace"
I want to be able to answer those two questions with a
resounding YES, so this song is my affirmation for making
the most of the present moment.

Psalm 96 (clip)
Another big thing that helps me to be in the body and in
the moment is nature.
This piece expresses my gratitude for nature, and was
inspired by my singing during a winter walk on a frozen
lake in St. Agathe, Quebec, and discovering my voice
echoing off the surrounding hills...!
