Nathen,
Just listened to "Jump right in" and thought of my own transformation. It's going along fine as I am letting go and letting God deal with many of my old worries and problems as I approach them. Humpty Dumpty is a great character to relate too.  Thanks for the inspiration and the great music but most of all for sharing with me. God bless you.

Nathen!!!
So great to see/hear/talk to you again! Thanks for coming down and sharing your music, talents, and wisdom with us at Mike Morales’ place. Marcia and I had a great time. AND - always cool to see you play that NS stick. It definitely has me wondering about making an addition to my arsenal. :-)
I’ve just signed up for your newsletter etc. Looking forward to seeing you again sometime.
Be well my friend,

Hi, Nathen.
I just downloaded and listened to your song "Jump Right In". What a great song to start the new year with!
Parts of your song reminded me of Sting's "She's Too Good For Me" which I've always liked because it's such a fun and funny song.
Warm hugs,

Hi Doll,
Love “Jump Right In”! Reminds me of a dream I had... I was standing on a cliff with a few other folks, contemplating how to get down. You could see hurt and bloody people all down the side of the cliff and at the bottom, death and dismemberment everywhere. Really pretty graphic and horrid. And then a voice said “Just Fly”, and I did. Pretty powerful dream for me at the time!
Love you,
Lauri Lyster (Whistler, BC)

Thanks Nathen, hope you had a brilliant Christmas and New Year’s season! Keep plucking our heart strings, baby!

Hi My Soul Brother!
I’m totally digging “Jump Right In”, as it's pretty much where my life has been the past 2 1/2 years, both with my move to Santa Fe, and now to San Diego. I've been marinating a song called "New Mexico" that's about learning to fly. And here I am flying around and jumping in the ocean. Talk about freedom! Great tune, and very timely - for
all of us.
Can’t wait to see you & give you a big hug, Nathen!
Virtual hugs in the meantime,

Hi everyone,
I woke up with a smile on my face. I was literally dreaming about the night we had.
People said it was one of the most beautiful Candlelighting Services (at Unity of Vancouver) ever. The music was stellar and so very heartfelt.
Everyone shone and sparkled.
Thank you all for your hard work and generosity of time to create the evening.  I am honoured to be a part of such talent and soul filled music.
Merry Christmas all,
May the new year be blessed with good tidings....

Hi Nathen -
Just listened to your latest BlogTalk radio interview (with Petey Silveira) - very nice indeed. Well done.
I can fully relate to many of your words (in your December/January newsletter) about the meaning of home. As for the topic of Ordinary/Extraordinary, which if I remember correctly you introduced in your November newsletter, this is something to which I have been giving much thought of late also. I’m sure you may be familiar with the concept of mindfulness - which partly involves, in brief, literally becoming "mindful" of every moment, i.e., being totally aware, with every sense (including the 5 physical senses) of our being as to what is occurring. For example, when washing dishes, perhaps a tiresome task, we can choose to focus on the frustration of such a seemingly mundane duty, or we can choose to become one with the experience - noticing the smell of the soap, the warmth of the water, the squeak of the dishes as they become clean, the sparkle or cleanliness being created through our hands... And when we eat, do we just go through the motions or do we truly taste and fully experience the food. (Well, that's one area where I don't usually have a problem *smile*). Either way, through just being aware in every moment, any task or activity may become a meditation in its own right and perhaps it is this which allows us to recognize that even the ordinary can be sacred. I wonder if this is what the monks refer to in the idea of living simply - that within the ordinary actually lies the extraordinary. I think of this at times, such as when I'm taking my dog Buddy out in the early morning just to do his thing as usual. It is a cold winter morning, but all is quiet and suddenly overhead flies a flock of geese - ordinary? Quite extraordinary I think.
One of your comments though helped me realize perhaps part of what I struggle with is that there is, or was, something in me which longs for the extraordinary - in the worldly sense. And perhaps now that I am seeing more extraordinary in the ordinary, that drive towards "extraordinary" pursuits is changing. My efforts towards "extraordinary", (in the sense of worldly success) have not yielded overly great results, so here I am still trying to figure out how I am meant to contribute and what is truly mine to do. While there are frustrations, I am also trying to be grateful for this time to
reflect, so that whatever the next pursuit, it will be, if nothing else,
extraordinary in its genuineness - I think it was Mother Teresa who said
something like - If you are doing what you are meant to be doing, you will be given all you need to do it...
Well, I'm not sure where all of this came from, accept that, a longtime
friend wrote the other day and among other things, asked if I was happy... such a simple, yet seemingly loaded question. I thought it was interesting that she should ask this in light of your ordinary/extraordinary thoughts, which I have been also pondering of late. So, I am going to write to her today, but since I came across your email first in reviewing my in-box, I just felt moved to share some of these thoughts with you.
While I'm writing here, on a different note, I'd like to wish you and Sheila a very warm and merry Christmas. Also, I want to let you know how much I will miss being a part of the Unity Candle lighting this year. Aside from the fact that I had such a great time last year playing the djembe, I truly felt honored to have been included with such a great musical team - as always. Did I mention how much I loved playing the djembe! As I also wrote to Linda a while ago today, please be sure to say a big "hello" to everyone from me tomorrow. I'll be with you in spirit.
Much love,
Jennie Emery (Kankakee, IL)

Very interesting question, Nathen!!! We have moved very little. I was raised in one home from the time I was 4 and my parents stayed there until I was in my 50s. It held MANY wonderful memories and as a family, we still talk about many things that went on there. We had the best childhood. I have never been back there since it was sold and knocked down - can't do it. Rich and I built a house in North Van and stayed there for over 32 years. We raised our 2 girls and 6 basset hounds there. Same scenario there, can’t go back since selling it and many wonderful memories are still in our hearts and minds. I am afraid that I became very emotionally attached to my homes - not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. We do need to remember that the actual building is only “stuff” and the home part is the people that we shared that “building” with. It doesn’t seem to have the same feeling now, as we are in a small condo and don’t have as much activity going on. A different time in our lives and I am sure that this is all part of the “plan”.  We have done our thing and now it is time for the next generation to do it all over again.
Home has been good to me and it is neat to hear about other’s experiences - like yourself. We just assume that everyone has the same experience, and of course this is far from the truth. There may be many out there who have never had a “home” as we know it. It is something to be cherished and to be thankful for.
Thanks for making me think about this and now some tears are flowing.  Good release.
Namaste

Hi Nathen:
I was so impressed with your newsletter that I had to share what I feel about home with you. Below is an Blog that I wrote about “Home” last summer.
I have moved more than you, and have never been able to feel at home anywhere. I sold my house in Calgary and moved to Vancouver, where I am now staying with my parents until I figure out where I want to be.
Merry Christmas if you celebrate that, and happy holidays if you don't. Namaste.

PS: Love the loving kindness wishes you give in your newsletter. I use something similar with some of my clients.

Home
What does home mean to you?
Does it mean a warm cozy space to call your own?
Somewhere where love resides?
Is home where all of your possessions are?
What about all of those people in life who do not have a home, either physically, emotionally or spiritually?
These are the people who need a home the most.
These wonderful people who have just forgotten where they belong are the ones who come to me and I help them find their way home.
Once people remember what home feels like and how safe it is, then they can move forward. They will feel more at ease, relaxed and can see life with the sun shining and not with a cloud that is over it.
I have often in my life felt like I am not at home. I think the experience of moving many times as a young person within a military family made me feel like there might always be a new home just around the corner.
I lost the feeling of home because I thought it had to be a place.
I thought it had to be a solid structure, where I could lay my head at night in the knowledge that I was safe and secure within my home.
I often thought that also meant family friends and loved ones.
As I practiced Reiki and became a Life Coach, I learned that when they say home is where the heart is, it means where your heart is. Where your love is. The love for yourself.
I may not be finished with the geography of home yet, but I feel I am getting closer to it.
In my heart and in my soul I have found home. The love that I have for me at this point in my life has shown me that I will always be at home no matter where I go. Wherever I travel or decide to move my life again, I will always have me with me.
I will always have my memories, my gifts, my love for myself, my love for all who touch my world, my desires, and my intelligence.  I can never loose those things.
That is what home is about. Feeling at home with yourself.  Feeling ok with what is.
Beyond that, it’s all just geography. Having the ability to help anyone feel at home around me is something I have loved to be able to do for others. What better thing is there to do than help people feel like they have found home.
For those of you who feel like you are not home, where it is and what it feels like, it’s all about the love you have for yourself.
When you are cold and tired, when you are hungry and you feel like you are a long way from home, remember to find joy in the things around you, find joy in your heart and your soul. You won’t find home by looking for it outside; look inside of you - it’s there, I promise.
I feel like I am on a mission in this life: to love everyone for who they are and who they are not, and to help those who don’t know how to love themselves remember that home is with them wherever they go.
So welcome home my friends, welcome home. In every minute of every day. For you are love.

17/12/11
Good morning Nathen,
To me home is where it has been for 45 + years.  It is the humble place that John & I bought together in June of 1967, before our children were born. It manifests who we have become through the evolution of our married life. It may have been spruced up, and remodeled through our journey, but it still has the special bits such as the imprints of 3 children on the cement patio, the tree planted when one of them was in 5
th grade, and the signs painted by grandchildren for Grandpa’s “Wine Shed”.
There are so many stories attached to this home, some happy, some sad, and all irreplaceable as learning experiences while travelling our path. It is, in the end, where our hearts are.
Have a merry day.
Love,
Peggy Yankacy (Ferndale, WA) XOXO

Good day wishes to you, Nathen :)
So wonderful to hear from you... Okay, I am SOOOOO excited that I will be meeting you when you’re here in AZ in April. Yay!!!
Thank you for the share of your beautiful home... Wow, so peaceful and serene - you live in BLISSVILLE dontcha? Very VERY nice. I can definitely see how you feel so blessed. Happy for you! :)
I am not aware of how it works when you schedule your concerts but, this past weekend, a few friends took me to the Whole Life Center at Shadow Rock to hear an amazing meditative concert. Nathen, the view was absolutely amazing and oh so stunning. Sending you a pic. As music was playing, I was able to look out the HUGE open windows facing to the West and admire the beautiful mountains, the open sky and AZ’s unique sunset. I honestly felt like I had been taken away into the heavens above, just floating with the music.
Perhaps the places that you play also have this sort of thing as well? AZ is graced with so much beauty, and the music that wonderful people like you share makes that beauty shine even more. Please do keep me posted... I'll round up a bunch of my friends and we’ll make an adventure of it!
Wishing you and your lovely family a wonderful, loving, joy-filled holiday season...
Much love and warm hugs to ya,
Cindy Rae (Phoenix, AZ)

Wow Nathen... This one really tugged at my heart strings. Thank you for sharing your open heart.
I LOVE home, yet I have felt homeless for years (without owning my own place or having a fixed address)... I have lived in well over 50 addresses (my mom has gone through several address books on my behalf)... I love the comforts of a nice, cozy space with beautiful, elegant surroundings. Why I have not created this for my life yet is beyond me. Presently, I am in the most gorgeous O'hana Home on the Big Island of Hawaii, surrounded by 3 acres of lush, tropical forest... mango, papaya, avocado, macadamia, passionfruit, estate grown Kona coffee ... and frogs, geckos, wild chickens, cats and a loud rooster. I am here with two superrrrrr loving humans who love and accept all of me: Hawaiian Friends Dhiana and Big Z. We laugh and celebrate life beautifully together and we have a soul family connection.
I am a few miles from 3 lovely bays where I have been swimming playfully with the kahuna spinner dolphins. This is a paradise; it is magic. Does it reflect the home I have come home to in my heart, I wonder? Was it my personal inquiry, awkward development and conscious growth that got me here?... It still is not MY home, it is temporary, again...
This is what I write to my friends and family who ask for my address: I give it to them always with an addendum that “this is not permanent”. I am 40 and ready to have HOME... ready to have family... ready to have my true beloved. I say to God, Goddess, and have said for many years, please, show me HOME. And then, I end up in a space (that is not one I own or feel is mine) where I share who I am and get something I needed for my journey.
Why me I wonder? It may be different if I was a musician travelling around, doing gigs and living off of my music. That would make more sense and be much more practical and fun, and I would have much to be proud of. It is as though I was put here to just simply Be... and shine a little here and there... but I wonder sometimes what it amounts to.
I have never wrote to anyone like this before about Home... and now tears come... as they do... Home was fun growing up, and also where my parents separated... where the family went its own way... where the roots of who I thought I was, dissolved, inviting me to re-invent myself from my core... where my spiritual path took me through doors that my family has not journeyed and may never journey. Every day I grieve not being physically closer to my mom and dad as I love them so deeply, and yet I know I choose this. Sun, jungle, dolphins, magic, Lemuria... for now. I left “high school home” when I was 18 and didn’t really look back. Call me a gypsy... whatever... I can see why I have been misunderstood.  Most people have a home... most. I have not quite been able to put my finger on this or me...
My book will be launched soon, my message will sail out into the ethers... Maybe I needed to touch many bases to fertilize my message. Maybe somewhere unconsciously, if I didn't really have a home, I could escape mortality somehow...??? It is time though; time for Peace, Love, Joy and Abundance on all levels. It is time for Home dear Nathen, this I pray now. I will feel it. When I walk through the doors, I will know, it is my home. Perhaps it has been waiting for me to say a full “Yes” to it.  You have inspired me so much. Thank you for hearing my words. Ultimately, Home is also in my heart... I get that... And I may still travel yet with a safe, cozy space always to come back to where loved ones can visit and send me mail, anytime.
xoxo :)

20th home and congratulations on house ownership. I’m proud to have been one of the 19 steps to ownership.
Mentally, Home is where I know the people around me and they know me, without having to think about it.
Physically, home is the house I’ve put myself into and personalized for my family. (Typical home reno guy eh!)
Merry Christmas to you and Sheila.

Dear Nathen...
Warm greetings and blessings back to you. I listened to
your radio interview yesterday. Kudos, My Friend, what an amazing experience.
Interesting your asking about what “Home” means to me: Let me (try to)keep this brief!!! My ministry website is “Innisfree” and has the music
from the 50s movie, “The Quiet Man”. I always felt when I “settled” I would call the place “Innisfree”. Peter even bought me a wooden plaque, which sits on my shelf. Then one day, years back, I decided that “Innisfree” was wherever I was. How often have I moved? 25 times in Canada, since 1960... and I have lived where I now am for 20 years!!!
In 1980 I wrote a book for my sister & nephews: “Dear Richard... Why I moved 19 times in 19 years” (the longest being 3 years). (Richard was my sister's husband who died in 1979, age 40). In Northern Ireland, up to age 21, I had 2 main homes, with perhaps two moves during the War.
This year, in August, my handy neighbour gave my door a new look and I inserted “Innisfree” in the door knocker nameplate... which for 20 years had been blank.
To summarize: I love my home more and more, how it looks, how it feels, and coming back into it has a feeling of “rightness” - especially since I adopted my Calico cat with 3 legs who perches high on her “tree” and (I feel) welcomes me home. Will I move again... It’s beginning to feel that way, but... !!??
This wasn't as brief as perhaps it could have been... but, you asked!!!
Have a fabulous day - week - month - LIFE, Precious One.
Rev. Dorothy Blandford (White Rock, BC)

Hi Nathen,
Home is where... if you have a studio there... you don't need to watch the clock!
Seriously, home is the roof that shelters you and your loved ones, the floor that supports you, the walls that gently hold back the world outside, and the doors and windows that let love in and out.
Merry Christmas!

Hi Nathen,
The old penny-farthing (high wheeled) bicycles were called "Ordinaries"  This was to set them apart from the new-fangled chain drive models.
I was born by Caesarian section, just like Julius Caesar 2000 years ago.   And we're both Leos!   That's pretty extraordinary, don't you think?  But the rest of my life has been just like those old Victorian bicycles.  And I'm still waiting for those chain drive models to get off the road so I can wobble down the cobbles in peace.
But alas, I think it may never happen before I am dead.  And there's nothing more ordinary than dead.
Daniel Hellyer (Hills, BC)

Hi Nathen,
Thank you for your e-mails and all the information etc. I really enjoy reading them.
Ordinary?
Yes, every day, when I do what I have to do, it’s ordinary and becomes boring. Then I start looking; I read a book like "The Power Of Now" and gain insights. That's something out of the ordinary!
By the way: I didn’t know any other person who was born on September 7. Now I do!
Have a great week out of the ordinary.
Love and Light,
Margot Gloge (Calgary, AB)

Nathen,
I just started listening to your album this morning. First reaction: "Wow!"
You didn’t mention your singing and songwriting. I think you have some serious skills in both of these areas; I’m blown away. I remember that you said the album was a "point in time", and that you’d grown your playing. Still, hang on to this point of your work, IMHO.
Your singing reminds me more than a little of Raul Midón, whom I admire greatly. There are some similarities in subject matter (from the heart, personal experience and vision), as well.
That’s meant to be a very complimentary comparison.
I will do a review of the album within the next couple of weeks at MagicBrook.com (which gets cross posted widely). I only review what I think is the very, very best. (My opinion, FWIW.)
If you are looking for a great label, I would guess that White Swan would be very interested in your work. My friend, Suzanne Sterling, is there; she's amazing, if you don't know her. I think your work stands up against hers quite well (and that’s another big compliment).
“I Am Walking” - sitting, standing, walking - fantastic way to describe a personal experience of intention and presence.
Best,
Brook (Oakland, CA)

Hi Nathen!
Hey, when I read your newsletter, it made me think of the song written by my friend Happy Ron Hill, "Ordinary". It seems to go right along with your theme this month.
I met Happy at Freebo's songwriting workshop this summer -Happy wrote the song there.
And, all the photos you will see in the video, except three, were taken by me.
http://youtu.be/QUSCLGcRiPc
While you're on youtube, if you want, take a listen to the song I wrote that same week:
http://youtu.be/xzW94smkGLY
I'm really happy with it - I just started writing songs in December, and this is my 4th.
All the best,
CK Brown :) (Seattle, WA)

Hello Nathen!
You wanted to know about my "ordinariness". I have always wanted to be ordinary. My looks are not very ordinary in Norway, That is because my grandmother came from Belarus, and I look a lot like her. I have always been recognized in shops and other places. People often ask me where I'm from, and sometimes the staff in the shops follow me around because they think I'm from some east-european country; eastern europeans are sadly known to steal from the shops. So I have always wished I was ORDINARY!!! I don't even live an ordinary life, but that is my own choice. I think it is very interesting to read your e-mails, and remember: I don't use translation, so I hope I do this right. If you will correct me (if you have the time) I will be grateful :D. Best wishes, and may the angels make your crooked path into a straight way.
Sincerely,
Kirsten Lillo-Stenberg (Hønefoss, Norway)

I wish you all the best for the future.
I think of you and the others (from our High School) daily and pray for you all.
May the sun be warm on your face, and the wind slow for the waves under your new home.
Love always,
Darlene Harrison (Montreal, QC)

I just wanted to share...
Right in this moment, my heart is welling up with appreciation for all that you are, and all that you bring to the world :)
I deeply respect you for sharing your journey, with your friends and supporters, of embracing the ordinary moments in life.
This too is something I have and continue to surrender Into, as so many moments in my day are actions of 'ordinary life.'
Thank you for your openness and bravery in publicly speaking your truth, joys and challenges :)
I love you,
Sandra Dawn Nash (Tsawwassen, BC)

Hi Nathen:
Like I've said to you before, my life is mostly ordinary - gardening, reading, riding, talking with Daniel, walking in the woods, cooking, making things for the house, etc.
I find that extraordinary because I am mostly very happy and complete in it.
Love,
Helen Davis (Hills, BC)

great question, nathen.
very timely, actually. i was thinking this morning about my need for approval (especially with beautiful women), and i suppose that's a variation on the question of ordinary. it's all about judgments and comparisons... and it's all focused on the external (what i do, how i look, what i have, etc.).
i choose to surrender my judgments and comparisons of the external, to step outside the entire concept of ordinary, and get that to be alive, right here, right now, is anything but ordinary. to connect with the miracle of life, the miracle of connection, and embrace myself as the most amazing expression of the divine.
and this brings a smile to my face... :)
and thanks so much for sending me your "river song". i just listened to it - what a beautiful gift, nathen. thank-you.

Hello Dear Nathen,
Oh how sweet of you to stay connected, and share your gifts with us in gratitude.
We will enjoy! Blessings to you,
Rita Britnell and Thomas Moore (White Rock, BC)
P.S. Good idea to continue opening the back of the heart... the past 3 days of full moon energy have been bringing up peoples' unresolved emotional baggage that needs clearing. This will continue for yet another 3 days, so it is a good thing to our field, continue raising your own love vibration... etc, and to look at ones' own charges that don't serve the highest good. Cheers

Dear Nathen...
Thank you, for your message and your generous gift of music.
What an amazing schedule. It almost leaves me breathless to read it... Huge congratulations!
I remember being "on the road" (verbatim reporting of human rights hearings): I loved the quality hotels... The reporting was high stress, so I prayed a lot (Lord, let me understand what's being said, etc.), but the gift from that lifetime stint was that I can pack lightly (I had to, as my equipment was weighty). Life's great journeys: we experience them, go through them, learn from them, and move to the next step... How fabulous (even with the 'what WAS I thinking' steps!!!).
Big hug,
Rev. Dorothy Blandford (White Rock, BC)

Wow :-)
I am awed... In your ordinary!!! You are anything but, my dear friend...
I just love you for who you are and how you connect with others...
Since you and Glen have been here, this house isn't the same - you both brought so much CREATIVITY, TALENT, and changed my ORDINARY moments to moments of bliss.
Looking forward to January, when I can share these thoughts with a smile and a hug... But enjoying the connection as it is right now.

Hi Nathen,
This is rather apropo, today. You say you struggle with “ordinary”. I suspect that I, too, have. Always. But my method of dealing with that was not particularly constructive. I have been too blunt, a little shocking, deliberately at times, just to see the reaction. Some forms of rebellion lasted far past the time they should have been dealt with. "Drama" seems to have been a large part of my life... and of course we know that is always deliberate.
I'm off to a Hospital Fundraiser with 18 friends tonight. Cocktails at 6pm, dinner at 7pm, and the "Timebenders" show after and then a dance.  Dressing fit to kill is sometimes a way of fighting "ordinary”...
You are creative, you are seen. Thank you for your lovely songs... At times they make me cry, but most of the time I just feel peace.
Thank you and have a wonderful day.
Bobbi Colwell (Campbell River, BC)

Dear Frank, Sandra & Nathen,
I AM sitting here at 5 AM bursting with enthusiasm and gratitude and wanting to shower gratitude on the three of you for the gift of chanting and healing sacred sound that you have gifted me and my community with...
I also want to shower more gratitude on the three of you for acknowledging me for the gifts I have in bringing people together and creating space for happenings to happen...
I realize one of the reasons I love chanting so much is that it is democratic - it's for the people, it's NOT a performance, anyone can do it, anyone can lead it. (Not as beautifully as the three of you, but anyone can lead it; and the leading only happens for a moment anyway, because then everyone knows it and everyone can lead it.) It is such a metaphor for leadership now I am really weeping...
THANK YOU... YOU THREE... You have given me the confidence to do something that has been deep in my heart for centuries and is waking up again and finding home
Love all of you
Vivienne Grace (Ladner, BC)

Dear Nathen...
Thank you for your beautiful song.
I was amazed to see myself included in your ‘Praise’... It reminded ME of the wisdom of what I wrote. Yes, I still write off two days each week as “MINE”.
What greater wisdom... re intensive 90 - 120 minutes of effort. Thank you for that. Very timely, as I am now focused on preparing for a workshop I’m doing for the WR Leisure Services on October 15: ‘Please hear what I’m not saying’. It’s a return to material I used in a ‘past life’ (80s) about understanding how we communicate with one another.
You are SO special, and I am privileged to be part of YOUR journey.

hi nathen,
hope your boat/house/warming party was really rocking and that you made some waves in the neighbourhood!
just read your blog/report and your talk about healthy boundaries around time really struck a chord with me.
i see how getting going on and working on self-directed projects at home presents a very different challenge than the one i was in before (deadline driven, in an office). part of the challenge is just creating space/time - an empty container, a receiver - so that ideas and imaginings can percolate. and i can see that a crucial piece here is to set up a structure or a boundary for this sacred alone time, boundaries around my availability to others and to the myriad tasks/errands to attend to.
so thanks for that reminder - and also the point about 90-120 minute focus times when working followed by shorter R & R.
mazal tov on your new stick acquisitions.
sending you love - and to sheila, too

Nathen,
Good to read what's going on with you. Good to see you and Glenn performing together. I really like that guy. You guys make a great duo.
Speaking of Oregon, Myriam and I recently spent a week along the coast, from Newport to Cannon Beach (see attached photo). It was our empty nest honeymoon (we never had a honeymoon) as we had just got our youngest daughter Eva settled into her freshman dorm at Lewis & Clark in Portland.
The house is quieter now but we're adjusting. Getting clarity on what to do next with the PMA. Also coming up with a book idea with a buddy of mine, inspired by wanting to impart some practical insights with our daughters as they've both now left the nest.
Hope your candida gets better soon.
Cheers mate,

Nathen what a deep deep blessing this last Kirtana was at Coming Home... Yesterday I sang your glorious song, "I surrender to the Peace, I surrender to the Stillness, I surrender to the Peace and rest in God... I surrender... I surrender as I pedalled to my shop THE PORTAL and it became the healing soundtrack for my whole day and still it echoes on. Deep gratitude to you for your musical gift of love.

Regarding Sunday morning - I had 3 men sing with me and it was awesome.  First we did "I Am Walking".  I set it up for the audience to move with us just before the song began. The 4 of us sat in chairs facing the audience and breathed in deep a few times with everyone before the song began. I had edited some kalimba into the front end to give us time to come in, which was a GOOD call. So we sat back in the chairs to breathe, then the song began, and they breathed again as we were singing, then we all sat upright to "sit", then rose up and walked/danced in place, then stood still on the "standing" verse (I edited out the laying on the ground verse) then ended sitting again. The folks ate it up and LOVED it. Anything audience participatory is always a sure thing. Then my drummer & percussionist played with me on "Little By Little", which I raised to a  GIRL key. I got some facebook positive comments on sharing my new Asilomar friends with the Trinity family. You folks are all revitalizing my church music repertoire!
I am serious, I LOVE your CD. It has become one of my ALL TIME favorites.
Love ya,
Jennifer Ferren (Atlanta, GA)

Yay! Nathen, I am so excited to download “I Surrender”... That was the chant that really resonated with me at Vivienne's a couple of weeks ago. I am just out driving around now, with a big smile on my face, looking forward to hearing it as soon as I get home.
Blessings and big thank you Nathen!

Hi Nathen,
It was really nice having you here in Calgary. I had a nice visit with your brother; we discovered we live in the same area.
It was very cool that you sang in Jon’s backyard. For a brief moment I felt like I was in Vancouver again. I'm sorry that I missed your talk at Unity Church (of Calgary); I'm sure it was amazing. I've lived here in Calgary for 3 years now and it was nice connecting with spiritually minded people. Thanks for creating that space.
Happy trails to you...

Welcome home, Nathen -
Thank you so much for sharing your gigantoid talents and gifts at Asilomar. You sooo rock. I know the kids benefited immensely from working with you and Jim (Maneri). Their song was great. We were glad, as the choir, to not have to directly follow it.
Great to have seen you, although it was brief. Looking forward to
seeing you in October in Eugene. Take great care of yourself. You did some very important work for us, setting the consciousness, summoning the music from within each of us. Big gratitude to you, friend.
Have a beautiful day!
XO, Shelley Dill (Eugene, OR)

Hello, Precious One!
Great to see your smiling face and read your post. I am on my first tour - I KNOW! I am performing at six churches in five cities in Florida. I do church #6 this coming Sunday and then fly back to Minneapolis.
This has been such an extraordinary journey. I shall never be the same AND the world gets to benefit from my expansion. Now how cool is that?!?
Yep; it's ALL good.
I love you. Keep on keepin' on, my talented brothah!
Hugs,

Thank you so much for your words. They inspire me, and refresh me when I feel wobbly and sometimes think it is me doing the work. I keep this image in my mind from one of our Ernest Holmes CDs from his CBS radio show: Ernest speaks of a little boy who is running a foot race. One of the judges notices that the little boy was speaking softly to himself as he ran around the track. He won the race. When the time came for the boy to accept his award, the one judge who had observed him pulled him aside to ask him what he had been saying while running. The little boy replied, "Well, sir, I was praying." The man asked what he had been praying for. The boy stated, "I was praying 'You lift 'em up,
I'll put 'em down.' "
It is never me who does the heavy lifting, but me who breathes joy in and out into the world and into the work that Is mine to do. Ease and Grace - in all ways, always.
Have an exquisite day!
Love,
Shelley Dill (Eugene, OR)

Hey Nathen,
In response to your 'doer' theme, I can relate. It took moving to Spain for me to figure out that longer hours and 'filling the space' as you say, doesn't necessarily mean increased productivity or creativity.
The pace of life here is so different, that the old rules can't apply.
I still believe in daily discipline and attention to my craft and keeping on top of details, but there is time for everything else, too.
When I get anxious with too much to do, I say to myself, 'hay tiempo para todo'... there is time for everything.
Great to see you're doing so well, and I hope you're enjoying your new home!
ox Nancy Ruth (Barcelona, Spain)

Hi Nathen -
I appreciate your heartfelt sharings and wanted to respond this month.
I have been spending A LOT of time on the couch these past couple months. I am still recovering from pneumonia but doing much better now. One thing I've noticed is just how much happens without me actually DOING things. I have been receiving so much love, support, guidance, blessings, food, care, kind words, books, movie suggestions, meditation experiences. Things have been so totally taken care of around me. Because of this, something in my being has finally settled like a calm blanket and I can move at a gentle pace even through storms and days and days of rain and cloud! At my core, there is an essential knowing that all is well, no matter what.
I have been enjoying small things like organizing a cupboard or reading over an old journal or making a nice hot drink, planting some flowers. I am so grateful toward my body and its wisdom.
AND... I hope my voice comes back soon because I really miss singing!
Anyway thanks again for sharing and enjoy.
xo Zoey Wren (Port Moody, BC)

Hi Nathen
Thanks for your newsletter and sharing your journey with me, dear soul bro. DOER really resonates with me as I have been working in the helping field for the past decade. Interesting for me to note that I in my doing, have worked to assist individuals to acknowledge and maximize their strengths - their innate resourcefulness and magnificence. Help others remember they are amazing gifts of love.
This Spring, I worked with Dr. Joe Dispenza after making a very necessary yet challenging dark night of the soul - honoring the shadow selves in EGO personal reality (this past fall/winter). I now can honestly declare I organically embody my true nature. I AM WORTHY. I AM AN AMAZING GIFT OF LOVE.
So now, BEING in the moment of this amazing energy, I agree that life flows harmoniously with ease and grace and all needs and desires are met. Woo hoo!
My new mantra: Just for today, I co-create heaven on earth. Just for today I experientially touch hearts and we BE amazing gifts of LOVE. Thank you God.
Congratulations Nathen on an amazing year. You declared your intent at a House Concert last June in North Vancouver, and I am a witness to all of your successes that have bubbled up as a result. You are love in action and an inspiration.
I look forward to the next time our paths cross in cyberspace and/or in person.
Take good care, beloved soul bro. Namaste, precious soul.
XO Lorill B. Estar (North Vancouver, BC)

Dear Angel Nathen,
I relate with your Beingness. How sweet of you to write about 'being'. Just this morning I was feeling a tender surrender from my heart that I may not have felt since I was new born baby. I am so grateful for the grace of God to have helped me to peel away the layers of dodo to get to my bebe... Teehee... I may have to blog about this today.
I send you my love and blessings to your life and home,

Nathen;
A 'gig' in Calgary!!! I hope you have a chance to get up to Banff... The majestic mountains and just... BE!!
I keep thinking that I'd look at a houseboat on the river too, if I ever get back home... Your personal environment is crucial to how you view the world.  Perhaps it's helping you to get 'grounded'... On the water... Hmmmm.

Dear Nathen ... What an IMPRESSIVE calendar. Huge congratulations.
How am I BE-ing? Bit of a memory slip May and June... Gave out and thought I took in... m'mmh!!! Had some odd minor symptoms, including vision, until last Sunday when I attended Donna Millar's 65th small gathering where I simply enjoyed the occasion. Had lunch with and drove over with Eve Lees, who is an amazing listener... Found myself chattering away the entire journey, even at one point feeling an emotional lump in my throat. Woke up!!! Had forgotten to "just be".  Thanks, my Special One, for the reinforcement.
Enjoy every moment of this beautiful life. I treasure YOU!
Warm hug,

Hi, Nathen -
Thank you so much for your wonderful words. I am filled with purpose as I attend the two projects which unveiled themselves last fall at our Rally. I am completing my business plan for the truffles and getting a presentation put together for our capital investors in Mid-August. I am also putting together the CD to be completed by mid July.
We just got back from a wonderous women's retreat with Karen Drucker. We sat next to one another by chance (if one believes in chance) Friday night. She asked me what stage in the production of the CD I was in. I told her the licensing of others' material, and she said let's talk after lunch Saturday. We sat down to rehearse the song I offered for our spirit expressing the next day. She expressed her interest in my voice, and generously showed me some invaluable tools for organizing (Virgo rising - I love to organize!), thereby explaining her desire to book me for the Coffee House gigs at Asilomar. The CD is paramount to me being able to go. The main events are booked, of course, and few know who I am yet, but OHMYGOSH. What an honor to get my voice in the door to serve in this way! Oy! So I am off right now to lay more ducks in a row for this gem of a demonstration! So much gratitude for Karen before she afforded me this opportunity, I am
leaking with gratitude.
Thank you again for all you are and all you do - you kinda rock!
Love and gratitude,
Shelley Dill (Eugene, OR)

Hi Nathen,
Thanks for asking.
I have received many things on my journey. I continue to receive - every day.
There is one thing that seemed to come out of nowhere.
I had always been told that “no one in our family is any good at art”. From time to time, during my life, I thought that it would be kind of cool to put paint on a canvas, but I never took those thoughts seriously. Then, one day, it occurred to me that a canvas would surely look better with some paint on it than when it was just plain white. I voiced this thought to an artist friend - someone I had met just recently. She surprised me by offering to show me how to use the different mediums. I had no idea it would bring me this much joy, or that it would become such an important part of my life. Last week, I created a painting that is a new style for me - and I just love it! That night, I dreamed of becoming one with the painting.
I never asked for this gift. But maybe my soul was crying out for it all my life.
So thanks again, Nathen, for asking this most wonderful question. I think, as we travel this beautiful journey together, it is important that we share our joy because it moves us all forward.
Blessings,
Donna Millar (Vancouver, BC)

Hi Nathen -
Thanks for the monthly MP3 downloads - a very generous offering indeed. By the way, you sound very good singing with yourself - Nathen *2... oh wait, Nathen *3 - even better! Seriously though, sounds very good. Nice job as usual, and very neat song.
I'm so glad things are going so well with you, and congratulations on your move. Your new home on the water sounds beautiful.

Dear Nathen,
Thank you for bringing Amanda's book to my attention. Learning to receive seems to be the answer for me.
When I read your newsletter, I felt that I needed to read the book, so I ordered it on Amazon on Friday night and the book was in mail mailbox on Monday morning. Also in my mailbox was a check from a friend for something I did for them 4 years ago; AND a letter from the IRS, saying that I did not owe them $233, rather I owed them $21. At that point, I had only ordered the book!
I have now read the book and I am in the process of inviting the small circle into my life. My life is changing exponentially. I am ready to receive my good.
Thanks again for taking the time to write and send this newsletter each month.
The song this month is awesome, and very appropriate.
Blessed Be!

OK - this is all very "spooky" to me!!!! I was on the web site for the Phoenix New Vision Center, which I have visited when in that area with our family.  The minister there was talking about Amanda Owen and her book (she will be visiting that center) and I bought the book 15 minutes ago to go to my kindle. Amazing stuff. I had not heard of her before - and here I am reading your newsletter at work and there is your note.
I really need to "listen" and "let go". Very hard for me to do, but not too late to learn.

Hi there Nathen,
Your house looks great, congratulations. Hope that the two of you will be truly happy there. You always sound so great in your newsletter. Keep up whatever you are doing.
Things here in Montreal are good. As we have done for the past three summers, Josee, Rozana and I will be off to Italy for three weeks. We fly out on July 1st and will be returning on July 24th. We'll be returning to the Salento region of Apulia which is in the heel of the peninsula. Great place with lots to do, great food, wonderful people and a lively culture. You may be familiar, being a musician, with the tarantella. Well, it comes from that part of the country. If you ever get the chance to visit that region, do so.
Pardon the pun but I'm still plucking away at the guitar and learning to sing at the same time. It has become a great therapy for me and a somewhat gentle way to move past some of my fears.
Keep in touch old friend and be well,
Tony Aceto (Montreal, QC)

Dear Nathen,
Congratulations on your beautiful new home! We wish you and Sheila many happy, creative and contented years there. It looks absolutely fabulous and you thoroughly deserve it! We trust you are allowing yourself to wallow in all that it has to offer and letting it sink into your bones!
We were looking at your huge photo selection and noticing all the places you've been to. You’ve clearly touched the lives of many people through your sweet presence and your beautiful music and the faces are proof - so happy and full of joy! We hope we shall see you before long to get our fix!!
We have been busy renovating our home, fixing up the bathrooms and now the outside is receiving attention with a new fence and the garage is being cleared out and has received a whole new floor! Gotta get it all done soon, just in case the weather improves - but as they say, 'wet is the new dry'!
Love and hugs,
Mary & Mike Maughan (North Vancouver, BC)

It's wonderful to see all the good that is happening in your life. As you are blessed, we all are blessed...
The idea of receiving keeps cropping up in my life. It's amazing how we are taught to give, but not much has been said about the power of receiving. I think that is the higher power of believing in one's self, don't you?
Oodles of love and showers of blessings,
Paula Davis (Apopka, FL)

YOU are amazing. The photos of you performing are fabulous... boggled my limited techy mind, that you got them up so we could view.
As for your new home... it's a mansion!!! And the décor... Sheila?
It's beautiful. Happy, Happy days. Be sure to take time to just 'sit and stare' at that beautiful view.
Congratulations, Special One. Keep that brilliant smile ... it's a winner, as are you.

I love hearing all about your life journey through your wonderful newsletters! Your new floating home in Ladner looks amazing... what a blissful, peaceful space in which to live, love, laugh and create!
I took your advice and looked at, and really appreciated, my surroundings today. I, too, have recently made some changes (within my home), and have created a peaceful living space in a living room that was once a cluttered, disorganized music studio. (A dear friend has offered me space on the lower level of her lovely West Van home where I am going to welcome my voice students in future.)
Do hope this finds you well... Sounds like your life is pretty darn wonderful!
Love,

Hi Nathen
What an amazing, beautiful new home you have!!! Unbelievable. The view is envied and I am very happy for you and your wife. I think you have found paradise!
We just moved into a small condo and your suggestion about taking a look at our own surroundings was a great one. We look out onto a Christian School and the mountains. There are trees blooming and the garden area is amazing. We need to be thankful for what we have. Easy to look at "others" and then think that our view is in some way inferior or "not as good" or "we don't have a view. We ALWAYS  have a view -we just need to look at exactly what it is.
Thanks for your insight.
Shirley Henderson (White Rock, BC)

20/5/11
Congratulations on your new home! It's just beautiful and I wish you and Sheila the very best - what a view!!
I know I'm not in touch very much, but I do read your newsletters, so please keep them coming - just went to your site and looked at all the pictures... wonderful. I am so happy that life is treating you so well and that you are happy - the happiness sure shows in the pictures.
I wish you both enough!!

Hi Nathen,
Congratulations to you and Sheila on taking the plunge (bad pun! - and I'm sure someone else has used this pun already with you) and moving to your new home on the river. One of the things I remember about being at Terry's place was that the view outside your window is constantly changing with the flow of wildlife and other vessels.
All the best and I hope you are enjoying this sunshine. :)
I am reminded, as of late, how we all need to see the sunshine from time to time. We have had our share of clouds.
Blessings to you and Sheila,

Hi Nathen
Very nice. Wow, what an excellent Stick player you are! I need to look at that next time we meet maybe at church - I still just don't understand exactly how it works! Anyway, first I thought maybe you had a track or some percussion behind you or something - you really get a full sound - full bass & guitar part and it kind of has a percussive sound the way you were playing it. Amazing! Oh, nice song too, naturally!

Hi, Nathen
I was touched by your awareness of yourself as a "dog with a bone" when faced with a challenge. It took me back many years to reading “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus” and a section of that book where it looked at how women and men deal with challenges. Women, mostly, immediately get on the phone and call other women friends and say "Help"; men head for the back of the cave and wrestle alone with the problem. And then what happens in relationships is that the men leave the women alone to try to resolve the issue because that's what they want and the woman says "He really doesn't care" and the woman offers to help the man and he says "She thinks I can't handle this myself". Congratulations for getting more in touch with the feminine side of your nature!
Love and blessings,
Ann Frost (North Vancouver, BC)

Dear Nathen,
Thank you for your timely message about surrendering and letting go.
I am reading all Joe Vitale's books and listening to his CDs, most recently 'The Key’... found out about Dr. Hew Len and ho'oponopono. Miracles happen all the time when we let God... now I understand more about Carrie Underwood's song 'Jesus take the wheel’...
Congratulations on your new home... Wow!
Marilyn Sochatsky (Edmonton, AB)

CONGRATULATIONS  ON YOUR NEW HOME and you couldn't ask for nicer neighbours!!!  I am so happy for you both.
We just did the same thing---decided that we needed to find a condo rather than stay in our manufactured home with high pad rent. We started to look and weren't  finding anything. Three days ago we saw one that we loved, looked a second time, put in an offer today and we are the new owners of the condo---it comes with all the furnishings which is a huge bonus. We will find homes for what we don't need and sell some things. I had a good feeling all along and wondered why I was not getting my shirt in a knot over it. I took the SOM 101 course last month and can't help but think that it helped greatly. Let go and let God---not my "old MO" for sure.
Another quote that I love is " When you reach the edge of all the light you have and are about to step out into the darkness of the unknown, you must trust that one of two things will happen: either there will be something solid for you to stand on or you will be taught to fly.”

Dear Nathen -
Very intriguing, the analogy/metaphor of a ship making even a slight change in course ultimately creating a significant difference in direction. I so much appreciate ideas such as this, as not only interesting food for thought in my own life, but also words of wisdom to share with clients in counseling... this actually brought to mind a current client and I will be sure to share this with him next week as a source of encouragement. Just wanted you to know how much I always appreciate your sharing words of wisdom and inspiring ideas in your letters. Thank you.
Love,

It is a joy-filled musical romp to experience the beauty, insightfulness and groove of Nathen Aswell's harmonious creations. When the first delicious phrase of Nathen's compositions greet your ears, you know that you have come upon a delight of pure sonic pleasure and inspiration.
This is a man who is clearly connected to Source, and who expresses this cosmic unity with ease and divine grace. To connect with Nathen's music is to soar into a place where pure potential meets creativity. It lifts the listener to a higher dwelling place, evoking the knowing that this is the essence of coming home, inducing the awareness that we are truly the empowered creators of our own reality. Nathen's music is a gift of spirit, and he channels this gift with brilliance."

Hi Nathen!
Glad to see you're doing so well and staying true to your path. I enjoy reading about your journey and I think your approach to focusing on certain things each month is something we can all relate to and be reminded of. I loved your last point about making an adjustment to your course and how that impacts everything. So true!
Gracias, and best as always to you and Sheila,

Hi Nathen,
Beautiful blessing in your (December/January) newsletter! I just wanted to let you know that I was completely moved by (your version of Vince Gill’s) “Breath of Heaven” (at Unity of Vancouver) on Wednesday night. I could feel that it came from your heart.  Powerful. It will be one of my favorite Christmas moments of this year. Thank you for your gift of music.
Merry Christmas!

Working with Nathen Aswell is a delight. He easily worked into our Sunday Celebration and accented the attributes of our program already present. The result was a smooth and effortless expansion of love and light. I would have Nathen back to our Centre any day, in fact, we would love for him to stay. His music and his joy are a gift to all. Thank you Nathen, we are so grateful for all that you have shared. See you soon.
Hugs and love!!!!

Lovely warm message, Nathen. Re this month’s “Silence”: I just mailed off my thesis this morning in which I wrote about one recent foggy pre-dawn morning, sitting with Cadi on my lap (my cat whose Gaelic name means ‘simple happiness’), idly watching the ‘flames’ of my electric fireplace while drinking a cup of coffee. Suddenly ideas floated into my mind for the closing words for my essay. “In the silence the Divine whispered”! As someone pointed out to me many years ago, when we transpose the letters in ‘silent’, they spell ‘listen’. So, may you hear the wisdom of the Divine through your silent moments.
Warm blessings, Beautiful One!
Rev. Dorothy Blandford (White Rock, BC)

Hi Nathen, What a wonderful gift to receive this (video of “To Love”) when I am in recovery (from my surgery)!!! I have shared the video with some of my friends who came over today for moral support, and they were in tears! They, like most of us, have loved deeply and been hurt; but thankfully, we all know that LOVE IS ALL THERE IS!!! Many, many blessings are being sent to you!! May love & light surround you, Namaste.

I watched a few of your videos and really liked your gentle one with the NS Stick (“To Love”); you have a magical spirit and good for you, for the world needs more angels with a musical way to share such joy.
I also like the fact that you have made a complilation CD with some other musicians for a good cause. I have done that as well, and those are the things that make the gift we have worthwhile. A gift is not a gift unless we give some of it away.

Nathen, your music touches my heart and feeds my soul. The lyrics clearly come from your heart, and each song reminds me of something I so want to remember. That's why I write music and I know you do the same. Your presence - and your music - are amazing grace, and I am grateful to be blessed by them both.

Nathen, I’ve been listening to your album in my car for the past two weeks and have been wanting to write you and say THANK YOU for your melodious, uplifting, 70s inflected, conscious, FUN, heart-lifting, vision-lifting tunes. “Little By Little” and “Choose Love” are my absolute faves; in fact, “Choose Love” literally helped me during a rough time earlier this week.
I am your new, biggest fan, and can’t WAIT to see you (and Soul Co-Op) perform again. :-) YAY!!! I am over the edge with excitement!
Much love to you, Nathen, and may love continue to be your guide!

Hello Nathen,
I was at the House Concert at Sue Hodge and Browne Anderson’s home; it was wonderful, really enjoyed it! I was not able to connect with you in person but would like to send a huge thank you, as your music at the Centre (for Spiritual Living Edmonton) and at the House Concert resonated with my heart and where I am at on my journey. :-) Have a wonderful Monday.

I’m reading (your July/August Newsletter) on the bus and it is so perfect. I asked my dad for help and he gave me his help. Right in this very moment I was feeling guilty for asking and then I read this. It is such perfect timing. Thank you... xo
Tiffany Hambrook (Vancouver, BC)

Nathen,
I especially like the quote (in your July/August newsletter) about the little boy who wasn't using all of his strength because he wasn't asking for help.
I think this has to do with how we define ourselves. We usually, and especially us guys, define ourselves as individual entities within a body who need to do a lot of things by ourselves. I find that definition and identity exhausting! (No wonder men on average die at an younger age than women.) I'm so ready to experience the world as life simply living itself (not even through me because that implies separation from life). We aren’t just part of life, we ARE life.
I feel this realization closer all the time.
Scott Johnson (Boulder, CO)

(Written to Brock Tully, host of “One of a KIND Stories”)
Hi Brock,
This evening was very special for me. Mostly I came to hear Nathen sing his music, and I was very touched by his beautiful songs. I have heard him sing his own compositions before, a year ago at a House Concert in Dartmouth when I happened to be there visiting my mother, and she and I both loved it. Tonight I found his performance even more deep and strong; at once intimate and powerful. For me, he wears his soul on the outside when he sings and speaks about his musical journey. When I left, I found myself feeling transported to a place of calmness and love.
Love,
Carol Ann Fried (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Dear Nathen,
Thank you for all the thought and heart that goes into your newsletters.  I was up early this morning and listened to the “How Great Leaders Inspire” message (twice). It obviously spoke to you, as it did to me. You are certainly answering the “why” part of your life. Congratulations, Dear One. Thank you for the quotes (like you, I love them). You are following your “Path with a Heart” (Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda). “A path without heart is never enjoyable. You have to work hard even to take it. On the other hand, a path with heart is easy; it does not make you work at liking it.” It has taken me to 70 to find mine... until then I worked very very very hard... ‘nuf said... Lovely topic for our next coffee chat.
Thank you for being MY inspiration!
Love and blessings,
Rev. Dorothy Blandford (White Rock, BC, Canada)

Dear Nathen,
I absolutely love your newsletters, AND I continue to enjoy them more all the time as you bring with them your thoughts, inspirations and reflections. I truly loved last month's newsletter. I printed your inspirational thoughts and kept them in sight. I shared them with others and they continue to inspire.
And now, this month, you bring more inspiration. I just listened to the video on the link you proposed and again I am inspired.
I always seek to understand WHY I chose to do what I do in my life. I often wonder whether I've made the right choices, though I tend to think I have. And today, I will spend the rest of the day thinking about exactly why I think what I do is important. I'll probably think of all those people who have suddenly, because of an accident and a con-commitant brain injury, lost so much of who they were. I will hope and pray that through the research and teaching that I do, I can help bring new hope to their lives... AND I hope that when my time has come, that GOD will say to me, GOOD EFFORT. I hope...
I thank you for sharing your journey, and indirectly helping me reflect on my own.
God bless and have faith!
Carolina Bottari (Montreal, QC, Canada)

Dear Nathen and Sheila... It was truly delightful to see you both last night and to experience your playing Nathen! I love that I can hum and or sing to your songs... they have stuck in my heart and mind since I first heard you...!  Thank you so very much... You are both an inspiration! I enjoyed Sue and Browne as well....beautiful times!
Lots of Love from me to you!

I was just listening to your CD in my car the other day. You have a very nice tone quality in your voice and I like your arrangements.
I’m glad I have met you... and Sheila.  I think we all enjoyed ourselves (at your House Concert) last night. I know I did.
You are a very personable person, Nathen. I wish you all the best in your music career and... life. You are definitely in the right field. I would love to be able to play that NS Stick like you do. You make what you do look so easy. That's a gift!
Till we meet again...

What a joy it was to meet you @ Jodi's house concert and enjoy your music. Your music really struck a cord in me. It's an extremely cool way to fondly remember someone. God is really amazing and I thank him for allowing me to meet you and Marcy! Your music truly blessed me! You both are really outstanding people whom I will

Hi Nathen!
I just wanted to tell you that next year for 2010-2011 me and my friend Hayley Bone are going to be a modern duo for our competetive dance team called "Footsteps" and we are going to do our modern duo to your song "Breathe." We love and I listen to the song almost every night when I meditate and get ready to go to sleep. I love your music and still always listen to it to get inspired! God bless you. xoxo

(Written to my mother) The evening at your home was not only an enjoyable one - but a memorable one. Your son is a special person and I was thrilled to hear his music.
Many thanks,
Tina (Kemptville, ON, Canada)

Dear Nathen -
We want to say thank you for sharing your talent and professionalism with us last night. The warm feelings and deep emotions as expressed within your songs were very meaningful. May you continue to share those God givent talents with others.
You touched our hearts in the dedication of the song for my birthday and our anniversary - many many thanks.
Your coming to Kemptville and sharing means so much to your Mother & Allison. We trust that you had a smooth return home.
Norma joins me in ending our love and best wishes.
George Fisher (Kemptville, ON, Canada)

(Written to my mother) Sorry I had to leave early as I was thoroughly enjoying Nathen's beautiful concert! His singing truly comes from the depths of his soul and touches the hearts of those who are listening.  Thank you for providing us with this special experience. No wonder you are such a proud Momma!
Phyllis Clayton (Kemptville, ON, Canada)

When I bought the tickets for your performance, I was quite certain I would enjoy it, as I am fond of almost all genres of music except Rap. However, I wasn't sure if my husband John would care for it, so I was pleased to hear him say, as we left the driveway that evening: "I really enjoyed that!" We both thought that you had a wonderful range of voice and that you sing "from the heart", which made for a spiritually edifying evening. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and giving us our first experience at hearing the NS Stick.
Shirley Boyle (Kemptville, ON, Canada)

Dear Nathen,
I was at Loyola High School in Montreal West for the Camp Kinkora benefit concert, and I really like your “Little By Little” music. The words (lyrics) and music are inspiring and keep us all glued (to our seats) song after song. I listen to your music on CD and share it with my friends and family.
Thank you from a fan! (My brother-in-law Douglas is sending you this email in appreciation of wonderful listening.)
Sincerely yours,
David O’Kill esquire (Montreal, QC, Canada)

Hi Nathen,

Dave’s not here right now, but I want to thank you for your correspondence. (Dave is new to e-mail but he’ll get the hang of it.) Rebecca (Dave’s sister and my partner) invited me to the Camp Kinkora benefit concert and I was able to enjoy your live music. Dave now shares his copy of your CD with me, and I really like your music for its “conscious” qualities; I’ve been a Zen and Yoga practitioner for 37 years now. Listening to “Little By Little”, I feel pleasure - as if I’m stepping into the consciousness of a young baby.
Dave and I will visit the “Music Store/Book a Concert/LInks” section of your web site when he is over next.

Douglas Jack (Montreal, QC, Canada)

Hey Nathen -
You were really good on Saturday
and cool instrument!
Evelyn MacKenzie (Montreal, QC, Canada)

I loved the music you played at the (Kinkora Fundraiser) Gala. it was very relaxing to the mind and soul.

7/3/10
The show was the most amazing House Concert I have ever been at. I will forever remember your uncanny style of being a master at the craft of playing your instrument, your smooth vocals and songwriter abilities, coupled with your highly personalized performance. Even the passion associated with your description of the inspiration behind writing every song made each song a unique experience.
Nobody could have convinced me that a performer has the ability to bring tears to each person’s eyes in the audience; you did, as if every song was written specifically for and specifically about each person in the room. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to sit in on this and take that influence with me in playing my own music. I know the theater will be sold out within the first hour next time you perform here.
I also thank you for the kind words after the show.
Blessings and peace,
Merv Flahr (Kelowna, BC, Canada)

Nathen,
Your performance and songs were heartfelt. I experienced a tremendous sense of peace and oneness with everyone in the room. Each song touched and healed a part of me.
Sincerely,
Ron Wade (Kelowna, BC, Canada)

Our evening with Nathen Aswell was an oasis of peace and tranquility. Beautiful melodies, thoughtful lyrics and fascinating stories. A wonderful way to stop the hectic pace of life for a few hours and enjoy the moment with friends and family! Thank you, Nathen!
I also enjoy listening to your CD, especially on the way home from a busy day at work. Very calming!!!
Kathleen Lougheed-Mercier (Nanaimo, BC, Canada)

On the evening of Feb 27th, I was fortunate to be included in a very special night of music and inspiration. It is not often you can say those two words together, as not every piece of music can truly inspire you or evoke such huge emotion. But if you are fortunate to hear Nathen (Aswell), you will understand this experience.
My boyfriend Andrew Scott invited his long time friend Nathen to Nanaimo to perform at his house... it was a small but intimate group of friends, and was nothing short of lovely.
Even though there were others there, I truly felt Nathen was singing just to us (Andrew and I). His words spoke to me and brought out so many feelings, and to be able to share this with Andrew was such a beautiful moment.
They say that music creates moments and memories... this is so true in this case. I bought Nathen’s CD and have been listening to it since the concert, and I can sit back and close my eyes and see him standing there performing for us. I can still picture the passion and his love for music as it carried through to his audience, he has the amazing ability to touch each person (in my humble opinion).
Nathen, I thank you so much for sharing this part of your life, it was truly a magical evening. And I am happy to have a new friend in my life.
Love and happiness,
Brenda Smythe (Nanaimo, BC, Canada)

What I loved about Nathen's performance was his skillfullness as a musician and his presence in the moment. He really gets what enhances the service and delivers it in an exciting and fresh way.
Robyne Walters, Musical Director, CSL Edmonton (Edmonton, AB, Canada)

What a treat it is to hear Nathen perform on stage and on his CD! Nathen’s style, be it meditative or upbeat, goes straight to my soul. Wonderful musical and songwriting talent! Thank you, Nathen, for the gift of you!
Hugs,
Ginette D'Silva (Edmonton, AB, Canada)

8/11/09
Thank you, Nathen. I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to tell you how much I appreciated your beautiful music this morning. It put me in such a wonderful place of peace and love as I began my morning sermon. I know that the congregation felt it too. Thank you for sharing your creative spirit with us at Symphony of Life!
Blessings,
Rev. Karen S. Wylie, Symphony of Life (Ojai, CA, U.S.A.)

The first thing that I noticed about your performance at Symphony of Live in Ojai was the unique instrument which you play - that captured my attention. I thought it was a Chapman Stick and as it were, I wasn't too far off! But when the other musicians left the stage and it was you alone, that's when you really stood out! I heard a beautiful voice with much feeling, singing a beautiful song with such depth and meaning. Then too, your instrument ebbed and flowed in perfect sync with the melody.
Sincerely,
Connie Early (Sherman Oaks, CA, U.S.A.)

1/11/09
Nathen's warmth and internal radiance shine out through his vocal instrument and continue the journey through his NS Stick, leaving the audience feeling inspired and full of rhythm! His song choices, both the ones that he has written and others, keep you humming and joy-filled. Thank you, Nathen, for sharing your gifts with us.
Heather Haseltine, Music Coordinator, Unity Church of Nanaimo (Nanaimo, BC, Canada)

Greetings Nathen!
Thank you for filling my ears with your SUPER FANTASTIC Voice & Music!!!!
I enjoyed listening to you live when you came to visit Unity of Nanaimo, twice. I'm very happy I bought your CD (Little By Little), to listen to at home. I brought your CD over to friends of mine one evening, and they loved your voice. They said it is AMAZING!!! THANKS-A-MILLION for this GIFT & that you have taken the time to share it with us!!! “Namaste!”

Hi Nathen
It was great to hear you play. I really enjoyed your songs, and your CD is awsome. I look forward to your newsletter. Thank you for inspiring the world with your music. Look forward to hearing you live again.
Shelley DeMelo (Kamloops, BC, Canada)

Hi Nathen;
I thoroughly enjoyed your music and singing when you were here. I bought both your CD and DVD and listen to them often. Thank you for your lovely and inspiring gift; I would enjoy having you come as a guest to our Center anytime.
Blessings, Kathy Allenby (Kamloops, BC, Canada)

A few weeks ago, Nathen attended our service in Kamloops and supplied the music for the whole service. It was so invigorating to sing our regular songs with Nathen and have him lead us. (We usually have a sound system and sing along with a CD; he offered a slightly different tempo and everyone felt very upbeat.) As the service proceeded, spirits rose and energy just buzzed in the room. We had a special event going on and we all were wearing orange. Nathen (the great sport) joined in and put on an orange vest and very quickly became one of us.
The most special part of Nathen's visit was the several pieces of his own music he offered during our interludes. What a gift he has. And we were truly blessed that wonderful Sunday.
Thanks a lot Nathen.

Hi Nathen -
Everyone loved your visit! Several of us noticed a new thing happening - the spontaneous moving and clapping by the congregation was amazing, and something we have not seen before. I think it was the power of the bass (notes on your Stick), as well as the energy of the music. Thank you so much!
Blessings,
Bev Wright, Music Director, Unity Church of Victoria (Victoria, BC, Canada)

Hi Nathen,
I want to thank you for playing with Elio and I at my "All You Need Is Beatles" CD release last night, and the celebration with our circle of friends. It, by all accounts, was a very magical evening!
We performed 17 or 18 Beatle songs (no small task) and rocked the house!!
I so enjoy playing with you as does Elio. Your artistry on the NS Stick is so great as is your beautiful voice. Singing 3 part Beatle harmonies live... is such a trip, and how beautiful they were. It’s one thing to work on songs in rehearsal and get that good feeling, but when it comes together in performance and the audience is right with you, then we get to really soar!
I also very much enjoyed working with you at MantraVani's "Summer Solstice" in June.
I look forward to more musical moments with you and for sure our big "Beatles In The Round" next year!
Thank you Nathen for your Gifts of music and of the heart.
Cheers,

My experience at the House Party was... amazing. I was BLOWN away! I wanted the CD SO bad and was blessed when Laura and I got them for free at the draw. I hope I can see you perform again! It would be amazing!!

So I just got done listening to your album (Little By Little) for the first time. I’m floored by your courage, your range, your exploration, your musical gift, and dazzled by your genius. The opening bell evoked a huge grin. By the time the closing bell chimed I marvelled at the musical journey you had just taken me on.

Thank you.
Blessings, joy and peace,

We met in Arizona last year at the (first Harmonizing with Humanity) music festival. It was a remarkable weekend.
A year later, I find that your music still brings back the feelings of peace, tranquility, joy, excitment, and love that I experienced that weekend.  The other morning I was rollerblading, iPod cranking out the tunes, and experiencing such a lovely day. Then “Little By Little” came on. Though I was already high with joy from the day itself your song took it to a new level and heightened my experience beyound what I could have thought possible. The energy literally pulsed from my heart chakra!
I wanted to share with you that you and your music have a place of appreciation in my heart. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world.
Love and Light

... We have heard you several times over the past years at Unity of Vancouver and have always loved your voice. My talent is playing the stereo and I may not be knowledgeable about instruments but the way you were with your strings today was total at-one-ment. Thank you for such a beautiful experience. Look forward to seeing you sing and play again.

Well, what can I say: I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED your House Concert last night - what a wonderful experience!!! Congratulations and thank you so much! What a great atmosphere, nice people, lots of good humour and, of course, tons of GREAT music - really well put together!
I hope you are flying on a cloud today and feel really happy and proud of yourself, because that's what you should be!
I so enjoyed the very personal touch of it and what, of course, added to it was that both Sheila and you made it so personal by sharing your appreciation and love for each other and some of your experiences (such as the 'spooned breathing') so openly with us. That was very beautiful to witness, and I feel honoured to have been allowed another glimpse of your life - thank you for that! I perceive Sheila as a very warm, gentle and caring woman with depth, and I can see that she is a really good 'travel companion' for you on your life's journey! Travel on, my friend, you seem to be on a really good path there!
... By the way, I love your CD - it's really nice and I played it last night while I was painting away, left-handed, of course! It got me singing and dancing away, and these vibes are now all captured in my newest painting 'My cup runneth over' - as conceived during your House Concert! Interestingly enough, I think it actually came to me during your song 'More Than Enough'.
;-)
... Enjoy this wonderful sunshine and again, congratulations on a great first House Concert of a whole series to be...
With much love,
Monika Becker (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Thank you for your songs, your spirit, your 'message', your beautiful presence ... I so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o enjoyed last night.  Fell in love with you all over again!  Loved Dave (Sinclair) too - wow, lovely guy as you said and holy moly wow musician!!! ...
It made my heart happy to see you again, and especially to see you so 'YOU' as a composer and performer... loved it, loved it, loved it.
Let's do that again soon!

... What a fantastic house concert! Thank you for sharing your remarkable talent with us! I was beaming and smiling all night and all day yesterday too!  What a treat! Thank you so much for your generosity.
You really are an angel, you know?  There is something very special about you! I am blessed to be working with an artist like you who bares his soul so completely; so willingly; so openly. Thank you.
... it is all of us that need to show our gratitude to you for sharing your awesome talent with us. Drink it all in, Nathen. You so deserve it.
Thanks for being you!
And thanks for believing in me too!

Nathen has performed at the Unity Church of Calgary twice for our morning service and has also given 2 solo concerts. His music has always complemented the services and his CD has impressed everyone that has listened to it. I have always been impressed with his professionalism as he has had to perform for us both times coming straight from the airport. His gentle humour and intimate performances have always generated many fine comments from the congregation.

Nathen brings a gentle spirit and quiet power to us through his music and his sweet and peaceful soul. In his presence I feel the depth and authenticity of an open hearted seeker who reminds me that we are all just pilgrims on our way Home!

I didn't really know anyone there and yet I walked in late and felt welcomed and at home immediately. You and Sheila have created true community... as you shared and were so unconditionally inclusive about allowing and inviting me to share what I do in the world... I knew being with you and your beloved community was an experience of "Being Home" of Oneness. As your songs vibrated through my physical body I was opened to the love that I am. I felt in harmony with everyone present and I was able to lay my mind in my heart and just be me!
Thank you dear friends... juicy blessings!!!
In loving appreciation
Ann Marie Wright (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Thank you so much for a warm and moving performance on Friday night. I love the way you connected so well with the audience and how you shared the inspirations behind your compositions. A beautiful evening. I’d like to have you do that at my place sometime; will see what’s possible down the road.
Love
Christine Hayvice (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

I’m a tad cynical. When I first met Nathen and heard his music I was thinking, “Hmm, spiritual, new agey performer, wonder if it’s for real.” I was wary of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Last week I was invited to Nathen’s house concert and got to hear him live in a very intimate performance. Better still, I was able to hear about and talk with friends in his social and performing circles. Now I’m convinced! Nathen is for real. He’s trying to live what he writes and sings about, no doubt left in my mind. And the house concert was great fun. For some numbers he had the whole room singing. During others you could have heard a pin drop. Now that I’ve seen both types of show, I wholeheartedly recommend either a solo performance like a house concert or one with his band and guests in a larger venue.
Kris Obertas (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Thank you for inviting us to your house concert last Friday. We were glad to be able to come to your house concert.
Since responding to your invitation, every morning when I wake up, the first tune that pops into my head is Little By Little.
Stephen and I really enjoyed the intimate and warm atmosphere of the house concert. I particularly enjoyed the simplicity of the show - you and a guitar. I was hoping you would be accompanied by your NS Stick but that may be for another show.
I thought it was really funny when Sheila would pop into the scene every time you were about to share a story about her or tell a story about how she inspired you to write some of the songs.
With our lives having been in over-drive since last summer and the pace not letting up anytime soon, being at your home concert was very meditative and relaxing for us both. It was one of those rare few hours where we did not talk about our home renovations or made plans for what work needs to get done that weekend. It gave us a chance to be “in the present”.
Daisy Mak (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Your house concert on Friday night was a special treat. The care in which you and Sheila took to make everyone feel welcome and special enriched the very personal musical performance. The evening was a sharing with community the joy of creative expression.
With much appreciation,
Eleanor Lipov (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

We had a really great time at your house concert. Eleanor did more crying than I've seen her do in some time (but it was good crying). For my part I must say that you created a very special evening. Well done Nathen!
Cheers,
Joe Bourchier (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Thank you so much for sharing your music, your tears, your laughter and your SELF in your recent house concert. It was inspiring in the truest sense of the word - to breathe in spirit.

Thank you for inviting me to share the rich experience of your Home Concert. It was a great time to spend with family, friends and new acquaintances while enjoying your beautiful inspirational music. I enjoyed the feeling of community, the laughter and  the introspection. I left your home filled with tranquility. In this busy world, we need more opportunities to come together with friends and share music, laughter and stories within the comfort of our homes.
Love and hugs to both you and my wonderful daughter,
Trudi Reynolds (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Thank you for your sweetness and preciousness. Your concert last night was absolutely beautiful. Your vision and mission will carry you far because it comes direct from your heart.
Thank you for being in my life.
Blessings,
Zoey Wren (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

I love your music and the consciousness of the message! It's wonderful to listen to something with words that I know will only bring me calmness and love. Funnily enough, since buying your CD I have been putting on Little By Little every morning at breakfast and singing along. It has now become my "morning song" because it gets me in such an uplifted mood. Plus I am now dreaming the lyrics to some of your songs and if that isn't a sign of their inspirational quality, I don't know what is. You have a unique gift. Bless you for having the courage and authenticity to share it so joyfully.
Sincerely,
Katherine Read (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

I was tremendously impressed by Nathen's ability in 4 areas:
- he sang his songs in an lovely and creative way;
- he played his acoustic guitar with amazing talent and ability;
- he managed to put some great words and thoughts into the lyrics he wrote;
- he also got me thinking that he and I should try to write a song together some day, in which I could only contribute a little to the lyrics, whereas the music and how that went with the words would be the subject of his magical endeavour!
David Balser (West Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Nathen's music stirs something deep within me.  His lyrics are rooted in love and hope for peace to ripple through the human condition. When he performs, he reveals his vulnerability. This allows me as the listener to unfold, and gently, little by little, be guided home.

Nathen Aswell is a phenomenally talented musician/composer who is very well known in the Metro Vancouver area through his years of performing in local churches, concerts and special benefits.
His beautiful energy inspires all who gather to listen to him - and he continues to touch hearts with his words and music.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about him and wish him well in every endeavor. He is a treasure.

Nathen is a dream to work with! His is the embodiment of sacred service in his musical accompaniment for my Sunday services. His heart-felt lyrics and creative guitar playing make an amazing synergy with any spiritual message. We often co-create the service flow to incorporate his gifts with my message.
The music on his CD "Little by Little" has a wonderful mix of positive music with a message of empowerment and depth.
I highly recommend booking Nathen for your Sunday services, for a house concert, and for leading meditations and chanting. His depth of Spirit, combined with his musical talent, is truly a gift to our churches, and to the world!
Rev. Sophia Ducey (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Before Nathen opens his mouth to sing, before those talented fingers touch the guitar you know you are in the presence of a man who makes beautiful music and offers it generously as a gift to God and anyone lucky enough to be within earshot.
Don’t EVER miss an opportunity to listen to this man share his gift!
