We would love to have you with us again!
It was a wonderful service and everyone really loved your music and your presence!
Thank you again, I appreciate you!
Today, Nathen Aswell offered the message and music for our Unity of London Sunday service. It was an awesome experience for everyone. He mixes his message with humour and songs which he sings and plays on his 12-string Chapman Stick.
Afterwards he offered a 1 ½ hour “chanting workshop” which I attended and thoroughly enjoyed. He has a wonderful voice and is a gifted song writer whose message fits in so well with Unity and New Thought.
You would be blessed to have him as a guest speaker and musician.

(About being a guest on Nathen's "For the LOVE of Music" podcast)
Dear friends and co-creators around the world -
I want to share with you this amazing man, Nathen Aswell, whom I was so lucky to be interviewed by. Nathen is a musician, a speaker, a coach and a radio host, giving other performing artists space to tell their stories.
Spending an hour taking with this man made my heart smile.
If you are using music or sounds to heal and help others, I am sure Nathen would love to talk to you.
His program is called "For the LOVE of Music", and you can listen to our talk here:
A special warm thank you to Sandra Lamb, who connected us.

I just wanted to say thank you for your CD titled "YES". I bought a copy off you in Toronto at the Toronto Center of Spiritual Living.
(I am the drummer for house band at the Center. It was such a pleasure to play with you.)
This CD has been the soundtrack for my spiritual journey. I have a lot of CDs - I collect them - and yours get played a lot.
My journey just keeps getting deeper and more profound,it is so amazing.
This CD has so many flavors of music and messages of hope and love. It is truly wonderful.
Thank you for being a huge piece of the Magic... 🙂
Ruston Baldwin (Toronto, ON), 10/12/16
Nathen, You are very special.
Thank you so much for delivering another incredible, enjoyable and meaningful "Keynote Concert" workshop. It was such a pleasure to be able to share the experience of this presentation with the Toastmasters Advanced Leaders Lab and lucky guests. I had the extra good fortune to hear it again (after hearing it for the first time last May at the District 96 Education Session). Your interactive, audience-inclusive style not only features your fantastic music and voice, but also your valuable insights. I knew you and your Stick would be an awesome hit!! So many positive praises and delightful comments heard from everyone, each glad that they came.
Heaps of Gratitude...
Joyce Mahy (North Vancouver, BC), 18/9/16
Just want to express my gratitude for your healing, insightful music, and the soulful work you do.
One of my friends who attended my house concert with you in November, Mark, was new to this path and he became absorbed in the warmth and love that you bring through your work. He had been ill for several years and he passed on Dec 27. I spoke with him directly before he transitioned and he expressed how his 3 months at SCPL really prepared him for this. He also told me how you taught him what a Spiritually connected Man looks like. He was so ready and peaceful. You helped him know that there is only Love. You are indeed Love and Light.
Carole Hodge-Little (Cameron Park, CA), 1/1/16
Nathen is a master at his craft. He throws all of himself into his singing and playing.
It's a treat for me as a minister to walk into the oneness he creates in my congregation.
Rev. Brian Anderson, Beach Cities CSL (Carlsbad CA), 19/7/15
WHEN MY ANGRY READER CONFRONTED ME AT A CONFERENCE
I had one of the most interesting confrontations of my life at last week’s Canadian Association of Professional Speakers conference. It was really illuminating and I’d like to share it with my fellow business owners who dare to blog, speak and in general share their honest personal opinion on the state of the business that they are in.
As my virgin run at this conference, I was thrilled to have gotten a speaking slot. Imagine, my first time at a Speaker’s conference AND I get to speak to professional speakers. My speech was about a fave topic of mine lately: your money mindset. In the 12 minutes that I was allotted, I talked about my humble beginnings, and my limiting beliefs. I talked about my shame and fears. I exposed myself (as I often do) to share my failures and my fumbles. This humanized me to a very special member of the audience. I was to find out why very shortly.
AN ADMIRER APPROACHES ME
A gentleman who had been in my audience later approached me in the lobby, telling me how much he’d enjoyed my talk. He also said he wanted to talk to me further. Now alarm bells weren’t ringing at that time because like any business owner who speaks to sell, I often get people wanting to talk to me about how I can help their own business after hearing me on stage. This gentleman was soft-spoken, respectful and from his earlier musical talent show using an odd-looking instrument, a very interesting person. I was happy to talk to him.
I HAVE A CONFESSION
Then he revealed that he had a confession. He said that he had signed up for my newsletter and had read my last blog titled ‘5 Ways I Can Tell That You’re NOT Serious About Your Business‘ He said that he hadn’t even gotten past the first point before he was boiling mad at me for saying what I did in the article. He then told me of how he’d seen me come in to the conference room the day before and had chosen to ignore me deliberately because of the ill-feelings he was harboring towards me. However, he still wanted to see me speak in person and came to hear me speak that day. That’s when he realized that what was triggering him was HIS own limiting beliefs.
DARE TO TELL
I can’t tell you how much I admire this gentleman. It took guts. I was blown away by his courage and honesty. These two things are not often encountered in today’s world. This at first nerve-wracking but later touching experience was literally the best thing to happen to me at that conference all weekend.
WHAT TRIGGERS US
My new friend and I parted on this one thought in agreement: what triggers us is always what is stopping us. I now know why I used to cringe when speakers started circulating their sales sheets. I know why my heart used to pound out of my chest when it came time to quote my prices (which were a mere fraction of what they are today!). I understand why it was so hard for me to believe that I could make my dreams come true.
I hope this story teaches you something as valuable as it did to me. Speak your truth, always. When the student is ready, the teacher will show up.
Chala Dincoy (Toronto, ON), 19/12/14
Very exciting to see your name in the list of Posi nominees. I'm really proud of you, my friend!!!
It will be so good to see you.
JD Martin (Snowmass, CO), 19/11/14
Nathen - you were AMAZING on NS Stick night at Free Hands Academy. You lit the place up with incredible playing, seriously. That, coupled with uplifting music and an equally incredible voice - such a talent. It was an HONOR, an absolute honor getting to meet you and bask in your musical genius!
Gene Perry (Temecula, CA), 18/8/14
It was terrific, as usual, to have you visit us. Thanks for a great morning.

I have had a chance over the last couple of days to reflect on the service last Sunday CSL Edmonton. I just cannot find words adequate enough to express what the event was for me. I am so grateful for each of you, for what you brought, for your wonderful musicianship, and your high level of commitment to your craft. I know people were touched on many levels, and like me, are unable to find words to describe the effect your work had on them.
Browne Anderson, Musical Director at CSL Edmonton (Edmonton, AB), 22/4/14
Dear Nathen, It was so nice to connect with you again. Thank you for sharing some time with us. I've been enjoying your CD "YES" in the car, the production is really excellent, and your voice sounds great.
Thanks for introducing me to Andrea Menard, I'm on her website now. Fabulous stuff, I like her songwriting style particularly, really vivid storytelling.
Sending you my love and friendship and wishing you many great adventures on this new chapter of your journey. See you soon, I hope!
Martin Kerr (Edmonton, AB), http://martinkerrmusic.com/, 21/4/14
Nathen! You are awesome. A treasure, and wonderful man of men and friend of friends. Love your songs - especially Psalm 96 on "Little By Little" - and there's one other one that pretty much kills me on your "YES" CD. (Anyone who is wanting to listen to some deep, refreshing and interestingly styled new music that vibes with NS Stick throughout and that is uplifting, please do check out Nathen Aswell's site. You will be very glad you did.) Big love to you, darlin'.
Marcy Baruch http://www.marcybaruch.com/ (Denver, CO), 21/4/14
Yes, yes, yes, check out Nathen Aswell's video for "I Say Yes". I love the song, and good gosh...this guy can sing higher than me! Love the message, the musicianship, and the showmanship!

Our CSL Eugene men came home from their retreat absolutely busted wide open. The smiles on their faces could not stop! They begged me to ask Nathen Aswell to facilitate again next year.
I am wanting you all to know what a great job he did. If you are looking for someone to work with your men on retreat, I recommend him highly!
Rev. Linda Finley, CSL Eugene (Eugene, OR), 30/3/14

Just wanted to say thanks again for blessing us with your presence and your gift. I have heard nothing but praises for you. Look forward to seeing you again.
Rev. Dan Holloway, Unity of Vero Beach (Vero Beach, FL), 23/1/14
What I like best about Nathen Aswell's brilliant new CD “YES” is the way the songs go on "auto-play" inside my head. They crank themselves up at odd hours of the day and night, causing me to spontaneously sing the choruses of "Jump Right In", “The Making of a Soul" and "I Say Yes." There's only one answer when a collection of songs is this well-crafted and this well-performed: "I say YES!"
Jana Stanfield, The Queen of Heavy Mental (Nashville, TN), http://www.janastanfield.com, 16/12/13
It was wonderful having you with us, Nathen, and your songs matched the talk so perfectly, it was eerie.
I probably am not the only one who thinks up great lines when the moment is passed. I wish this one had occurred to me earlier: This man has accomplished the improbable feat of setting Ernest Holmes to music.
I listened to your songs with a teacher's ear and there was so much teaching in them I was in awe. AND they were great to listen to and sing along with.
Love and blessings,
Rev. Colette Mercier, Amazing Grace Spiritual Center (Seattle, WA), 15/12/13
Hi Nathen, Thanks for coming down to be with us this morning - you were wonderful and the music was perfect! Happy Holidays!!!
Cheri Neill, Music Director at Amazing Grace Spiritual Center (Seattle, WA), 15/12/13
Hi brother... I finally had a chance to listen to "YES." So many things to compliment you on! Your vocals are incredible, both the leads and the backgrounds. And your playing is stellar as always. Love “The Making of a Soul”. (You DO have some African blood, right?) “Spirit is Calling”... perfect pop form. On and on... Congrats to you for this CD!
JD Martin (Snowmass, CO), http://www.garrett-martin.com, 12/12/13
Thank you so much Nathen! You rocked the house at CSL Vancouver last Sunday - great fun!

Hey Nathen -Your music is always exquisite - and, while I'm sorry we did not get to a couple of the more meditative songs, I sure enjoyed rocking out with you. You inspire me! Without question, we must do it again.
Matt Treder, Musical Director at CSL Eugene (Eugene, OR), 27/9/12
Nathen - Thank you for adding your amazing talent with the NS Stick, your creativity, your deep sensitivity, your consciousness, your loving spirit to the creation of the extraordinary transformational space that was created this week. I love, admire, appreciate and respect you!
Jack Canfield (Santa Barbara, CA), https://jackcanfield.com/, 18/8/12
You - my brother - were the absolute lynchpin of an amazing week of music ministry at Asilomar! As if there were seven of you... there's Nathen and his NS Stick in Chapel doing early morning service... But wait didn't I just see Nathen and his Stick in Merrill hall rehearsing with Lisa, Erika, and the band? But wait... I thought I saw Nathen and his Stick on stage with "Sista B and the Boyz"! You are a musician's musician! Thanks for all you brought to MY Vacation! Looking forward to our next adventure together! xo

(About Nathen's House Concert in Kirkland, WA, June 7/12)
When Nathen arrived around 4, Dan already had the PA set up for him. Nathen completed the setup by hooking up his Pod and his NS Stick. I was somewhat familiar with a Pod - Dan's got one of those. But the NS Stick is something unusual. I'd seen Nathen play it at FAR-West, but that was a brief thing, surrounded by the chaos that embodies that conference. I think this was a different instrument than I'd seen him play then, anyway. This one had an ash body and a bamboo neck. It's got eight strings, and can make both bass and guitar sounds. That's about all I really know about it - except that Nathen plays it rather well.
The show itself actually got started when someone asked Nathen a question as to how the instrument worked. That was, after all, a perfect segue into demonstrating the NS Stick in action. Although the instrument can be strummed, Nathen plays it with a damper, by tapping strings. He described it as actually being fairly equivalent to a piano. The Pod gave him different tones and effects, so there was a lot of versatility to his sound. Add to that a great voice, and you have an audience treated to a fantastic performance with a very unique feel.
Nathen played a few familiar songs, including a reggae medley and “All You Need Is Love”, but most of his songs were either from the CD he brought with him, “Little By Little”, or from his upcoming EP “I Say Yes”, which will itself will be a sampler of songs from two full CDs he has in the works. Judging from the reception the new songs got among this crowd, his new CDs should do very well.
This week's crowd was made up of mostly music appreciators, rather than active musicians, so Nathen played a second set after the break. A notable exception to that statement was Eric Robert, who accompanied Nathen on piano for a couple songs. They had never met before, but you wouldn't know it to hear them play together. I particularly wish I had a recording of “To Love”, the second song they did, which left the audience completely entranced.
At the end of the night, I heard Dirk tell Nathen, "Thank you so much. That was exactly what I needed tonight." And if that's not the hallmark of a successful concert, I don't know what is.
Shanie Holman, Backyard House Concerts (Kirkland, WA), 13/6/12
Dear Nathen, Thanks so much...we all loved having you with us. What a wonderful gift you are to the planet.
See you soon, I hope. Let me know when you are available again.
Stephan Plummer, Musical Director at Amazing Grace Spiritual Center (Seattle, WA), 12/6/12
Hi there, Just wanted to let you know that your “I Walk” chant was GREAT! People at CSL White Rock love it, Glenda Rae and Brett Wade sounded gorgeous performing it, and the congregation all knew it. (The congregation sang the whole thing, not just the first line.) It’s really beautiful, Nathen. Just lovely, and perfect for Rev. Terry’s topic.
Diane Lines, Musical Director at CSL White Rock (Port Moody, BC), http://www.DianeLines.com, 30/4/12
Took a breath (!) & wanted to send warm thoughts your way & let you know how much I enjoyed hanging with you and performing. As I reflect on it, it keeps feeling better & better - a lot of nuances & moments - & we were very tuned in to each other I felt! I wanted to let you know also how much positive feedback I have been getting about you & about our little combo from church folk. Everyone was much impressed, appreciated all of the efforts we made to bring the best experience possible... so I wanted to pass that on to you. Hope your travels were safe & restful & hope that we do it again soon somewhere in this world!!!!
Blessings & Peace,
Zephryn Conte, Musical Director at Unity of Chandler (Tempe, AZ), 24/4/12
Hi Nathen, THANK YOU so very much for the music on Sunday. The way it wove together with the meditation and the lesson was just marvelous. Just an excellent work. Your talent and spirit helped create a very successful worship experience.
Rev. Martha Mosley, Unity of Vancouver (Vancouver, BC), 21/3/12
Hello Nathen, I was delighted to receive your CD "Little by Little" and honestly felt as I placed it in the car CD player, "Well, I'll give it a try!”. I was thrilled from the first phrase to the last tone of the bell at the variety, diction, phrasing and breath control you demonstrated throughout the tracks. I loved the title song, Breathe and your simply beautiful and powerful rendition of Psalm 96.
I must have played the entire CD at least 5 times since you gave it to me last Friday night (8 days ago) and have already played it to several friends who were equally entranced by your music and lyrics.
You have come a long way since the noisy and somewhat rambunctious teenager of the 70's! Your music shows a spiritual growth and maturity which is a joy to have been a wee bit a part of and to have witnessed.
You have offered to be a musical part of a celebration of the Eucharist (Mass) with me at a time in the future - an occasion to which I will look forward with delight! I shall be purchasing several copies as Christmas gifts for my family and friends. "May God bless the work of your hands" (as my favourite seminary professor and advisor often said to me).
Shalom, Namaste, Irini, Pace, Paix, Ciao, Salaam and Peace,
Fr. Mike Shaw (Montreal, QC), 9/3/12
Hi Nathen, Thank you so much for your mighty contribution to our service Sunday. You asked for information on my talk topic and then selected and performed two songs that went beyond perfect. By the time I walked up to speak, the atmosphere in the room was infused with openness and love. I wonder if I even needed to say anything as it was already done! Thank you again for your open heart and your deep listening.
Blessings in all ways,
Rev Sharon Lee Foley, Portland Center for Spiritual Living (Portland, OR), 20/2/12

Rev. Darlene Strickland, Unity of Edgewood (Edgewood, WA), 1/3/11
It is a joy-filled musical romp to experience the beauty, insightfulness and groove of Nathen Aswell's harmonious creations. When the first delicious phrase of Nathen's compositions greet your ears, you know that you have come upon a delight of pure sonic pleasure and inspiration. This is a man who is clearly connected to Source, and who expresses this cosmic unity with ease and divine grace. To connect with Nathen's music is to soar into a place where pure potential meets creativity. It lifts the listener to a higher dwelling place, evoking the knowing that this is the essence of coming home, inducing the awareness that we are truly the empowered creators of our own reality. Nathen's music is a gift of spirit, and he channels this gift with brilliance.

Working with Nathen Aswell is a delight. He easily worked into our Sunday Celebration and accented the attributes of our program already present. The result was a smooth and effortless expansion of love and light. I would have Nathen back to our Centre any day, in fact, we would love for him to stay. His music and his joy are a gift to all. Thank you Nathen, we are so grateful for all that you have shared. See you soon. Hugs and love!!!!
Jill Brocklehurst, Spiritual Director of CSL Campbell River (Quadra Island, BC), 2/12/10
Nathen, your songs were beautiful today and I am very grateful for your care in choosing and preparing them. It meant a great deal to me, especially to be led into my talk by your performance of "The Heart of the Matter."
Thank you, and many blessings.
Colette Mercier, RScP (Seattle, WA), 2/5/10
What I loved about Nathen's performance was his skillfulness as a musician and his presence in the moment. He really gets what enhances the service and delivers it in an exciting and fresh way.
Robyne Walters, Musical Director, CSL Edmonton (Edmonton, AB), 29/11/09
Thank you, Nathen. I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to tell you how much I appreciated your beautiful music this morning. It put me in such a wonderful place of peace and love as I began my morning sermon. I know that the congregation felt it too. Thank you for sharing your creative spirit with us at Symphony of Life!
Rev. Karen S. Wylie, Symphony of Life (Ojai, CA, U.S.A.) 8/11/09
A few weeks ago, Nathen attended our service in Kamloops and supplied the music for the whole service. It was so invigorating to sing our regular songs with Nathen and have him lead us. (We usually have a sound system and sing along with a CD; he offered a slightly different tempo and everyone felt very upbeat.) As the service proceeded, spirits rose and energy just buzzed in the room. We had a special event going on and we all were wearing orange. Nathen (the great sport) joined in and put on an orange vest and very quickly became one of us. The most special part of Nathen's visit was the several pieces of his own music he offered during our interludes. What a gift he has. And we were truly blessed that wonderful Sunday. Thanks a lot Nathen.
Lana Graham, President of the Board of Trustees, CSL Kamloops (Kamloops, BC), 1/11/09
Nathen's warmth and internal radiance shine out through his vocal instrument and continue the journey through his NS Stick, leaving the audience feeling inspired and full of rhythm! His song choices, both the ones that he has written and others, keep you humming and joy-filled. Thank you, Nathen, for sharing your gifts with us.
Heather Haseltine, Music Coordinator, Unity Church of Nanaimo (Nanaimo, BC), 1/11/09
Hi Nathen - Everyone loved your visit! Several of us noticed a new thing happening - the spontaneous moving and clapping by the congregation was amazing, and something we have not seen before. I think it was the power of the bass (notes on your Stick), as well as the energy of the music. Thank you so much!
Bev Wright, Music Director, Unity Church of Victoria (Victoria, BC), 11/10/09
My brutha, You move me! Thank you. Our congregation received you with much love and appreciation.
Thank you for sharing who you are and shining your light. My heart is full of gratitude.

You really are an angel, you know? There is something very special about you! I am blessed to be working with an artist like you who bares his soul so completely; so willingly; so openly. Thank you.
... it is all of us that need to show our gratitude to you for sharing your awesome talent with us. Drink it all in, Nathen. You so deserve it. Thanks for being you! And thanks for believing in me too!

Nathen has performed at the Unity Church of Calgary twice for our morning service and has also given 2 solo concerts. His music has always complemented the services and his CD has impressed everyone that has listened to it. I have always been impressed with his professionalism as he has had to perform for us both times coming straight from the airport. His gentle humour and intimate performances have always generated many fine comments from the congregation.

Nathen brings a gentle spirit and quiet power to us through his music and his sweet and peaceful soul. In his presence I feel the depth and authenticity of an open hearted seeker who reminds me that we are all just pilgrims on our way Home!

Nathen Aswell is a phenomenally talented musician/composer who is very well known in the Metro Vancouver area through his years of performing in local churches, concerts and special benefits. His beautiful energy inspires all who gather to listen to him - and he continues to touch hearts with his words and music. I can’t say enough wonderful things about him and wish him well in every endeavor. He is a treasure.
Rev. Carrie Hunter, Spiritual Centre for Dynamic Living (Vancouver, BC), 10/2/08
Nathen is a dream to work with! His is the embodiment of sacred service in his musical accompaniment for my Sunday services. His heart-felt lyrics and creative guitar playing make an amazing synergy with any spiritual message. We often co-create the service flow to incorporate his gifts with my message.
The music on his CD "Little by Little" has a wonderful mix of positive music with a message of empowerment and depth. I highly recommend booking Nathen for your Sunday services, for a house concert, and for leading meditations and chanting. His depth of Spirit, combined with his musical talent, is truly a gift to our churches, and to the world!
Rev. Sophia Ducey (Vancouver, BC), 3/2/08
Before Nathen opens his mouth to sing, before those talented fingers touch the guitar you know you are in the presence of a man who makes beautiful music and offers it generously as a gift to God and anyone lucky enough to be within earshot. Don’t EVER miss an opportunity to listen to this man share his gift!
