Hi Nathen,
Great work at Unity of White Rock this morning!
Your song choices...
the fullness of your sound + quality of your audio...
your ‘playing with’ the pacing + words... (tons of feeling/soul coming through!)...
And most of all, the quality of the songs you’ve written. They work SO well with Unity themes/talks... and amplify what any speaker could ever say.
Kudos on all you are doing!
And thanks for partnering with me again today.
My best,

Today, Nathen Aswell offered the message and music for our Unity of London Sunday service. It was an awesome experience for everyone. He mixes his message with humour and songs which he sings and plays on his 12-string Chapman Stick.

Afterwards he offered a 1 ½ hour “chanting workshop” which I attended and thoroughly enjoyed. He has a wonderful voice and is a gifted song writer whose message fits in so well with Unity and New Thought.

You would be blessed to have him as a guest speaker and musician.

Blessings

Greetings Nathen
I just wanted to say thank you for your CD titled "YES". I bought a copy off you in Toronto at the Toronto Center of Spiritual Living.
(I am the drummer for house band at the Center. It was such a pleasure to play with you.)
This CD has been the soundtrack for my spiritual journey. I have a lot of CDs - I collect them - and yours get played a lot.
My journey just keeps getting deeper and more profound,it is so amazing.
This CD has so many flavors of music and messages of hope and love. It is truly wonderful.
Thank you for being a huge piece of the Magic... 🙂

Nathen, You are very special.
Thank you so much for delivering another incredible, enjoyable and meaningful "Keynote Concert" workshop. It was such a pleasure to be able to share the experience of this presentation with the Toastmasters Advanced Leaders Lab and lucky guests. I had the extra good fortune to hear it again (after hearing it for the first time last May at the District 96 Education Session). Your interactive, audience-inclusive style not only features your fantastic music and voice, but also your valuable insights. I knew you and your Stick would be an awesome hit!! So many positive praises and delightful comments heard from everyone, each glad that they came.
Heaps of Gratitude...

Hello Nathen,
Just want to express my gratitude for your healing, insightful music, and the soulful work you do.
One of my friends who attended my house concert with you in November, Mark, was new to this path and he became absorbed in the warmth and love that you bring through your work. He had been ill for several years and he passed on Dec 27. I spoke with him directly before he transitioned and he expressed how his 3 months at SCPL really prepared him for this. He also told me how you taught him what a Spiritually connected Man looks like. He was so ready and peaceful. You helped him know that there is only Love. You are indeed Love and Light.
Namaste ~

WHEN MY ANGRY READER CONFRONTED ME AT A CONFERENCE
confrontationI had one of the most interesting confrontations of my life at last week’s Canadian Association of Professional Speakers conference. It was really illuminating and I’d like to share it with my fellow business owners who dare to blog, speak and in general share their honest personal opinion on the state of the business that they are in.
SPEAKING GIG
As my virgin run at this conference, I was thrilled to have gotten a speaking slot. Imagine, my first time at a Speaker’s conference AND I get to speak to professional speakers. My speech was about a fave topic of mine lately: your money mindset. In the 12 minutes that I was allotted, I talked about my humble beginnings, and my limiting beliefs. I talked about my shame and fears. I exposed myself (as I often do) to share my failures and my fumbles.  This humanized me to a very special member of the audience. I was to find out why very shortly.

AN ADMIRER APPROACHES ME
A gentleman who had been in my audience later approached me in the lobby, telling me how much he’d enjoyed my talk. He also said he wanted to talk to me further. Now alarm bells weren’t ringing at that time because like any business owner who speaks to sell, I often get people wanting to talk to me about how I can help their own business after hearing me on stage. This gentleman was soft-spoken, respectful and from his earlier musical talent show using an odd-looking instrument, a very interesting person. I was happy to talk to him.
I HAVE A CONFESSION
Then he revealed that he had a confession. He said that he had signed up for my newsletter and had read my last blog titled ‘5 Ways I Can Tell That You’re NOT Serious About Your Business‘ He said that he hadn’t even gotten past the first point before he was boiling mad at me for saying what I did in the article. He then told me of how he’d seen me come in to the conference room the day before and had chosen to ignore me deliberately because of the ill-feelings he was harboring towards me. However, he still wanted to see me speak in person and came to hear me speak that day. That’s when he realized that what was triggering him was HIS own limiting beliefs.
DARE TO TELL
I can’t tell you how much I admire this gentleman. It took guts. I was blown away by his courage and honesty. These two things are not often encountered in today’s world. This at first nerve-wracking but later touching experience was literally the best thing to happen to me at that conference all weekend.
WHAT TRIGGERS US
My new friend and I parted on this one thought in agreement: what triggers us is always what is stopping us. I now know why I used to cringe when speakers started circulating their sales sheets. I know why my heart used to pound out of my chest when it came time to quote my prices (which were a mere fraction of what they are today!). I understand why it was so hard for me to believe that I could make my dreams come true.
I hope this story teaches you something as valuable as it did to me. Speak your truth, always. When the student is ready, the teacher will show up.

I have had a chance over the last couple of days to reflect on the service last Sunday CSL Edmonton. I just cannot find words adequate enough to express what the event was for me. I am so grateful for each of you, for what you brought, for your wonderful musicianship, and your high level of commitment to your craft. I know people were touched on many levels, and like me, are unable to find words to describe the effect your work had on them.

What I like best about Nathen Aswell's brilliant new CD “YES” is the way the songs go on "auto-play" inside my head. They crank themselves up at odd hours of the day and night, causing me to spontaneously sing the choruses of "Jump Right In", “The Making of a Soul" and "I Say Yes." There's only one answer when a collection of songs is this well-crafted and this well-performed: "I say YES!"

It was wonderful having you with us, Nathen, and your songs matched the talk so perfectly, it was eerie.
I probably am not the only one who thinks up great lines when the moment is passed. I wish this one had occurred to me earlier: This man has accomplished the improbable feat of setting Ernest Holmes to music.
I listened to your songs with a teacher's ear and there was so much teaching in them I was in awe. AND they were great to listen to and sing along with.

(About Nathen's House Concert in Kirkland, WA, June 7/12)
When Nathen arrived around 4, Dan already had the PA set up for him. Nathen completed the setup by hooking up his Pod and his NS Stick. I was somewhat familiar with a Pod - Dan's got one of those. But the NS Stick is something unusual. I'd seen Nathen play it at FAR-West, but that was a brief thing, surrounded by the chaos that embodies that conference. I think this was a different instrument than I'd seen him play then, anyway. This one had an ash body and a bamboo neck. It's got eight strings, and can make both bass and guitar sounds. That's about all I really know about it - except that Nathen plays it rather well.
The show itself actually got started when someone asked Nathen a question as to how the instrument worked. That was, after all, a perfect segue into demonstrating the NS Stick in action. Although the instrument can be strummed, Nathen plays it with a damper, by tapping strings. He described it as actually being fairly equivalent to a piano. The Pod gave him different tones and effects, so there was a lot of versatility to his sound. Add to that a great voice, and you have an audience treated to a fantastic performance with a very unique feel.
Nathen played a few familiar songs, including a reggae medley and “All You Need Is Love”, but most of his songs were either from the CD he brought with him, “Little By Little”, or from his upcoming EP “I Say Yes”, which will itself will be a sampler of songs from two full CDs he has in the works. Judging from the reception the new songs got among this crowd, his new CDs should do very well.
This week's crowd was made up of mostly music appreciators, rather than active musicians, so Nathen played a second set after the break. A notable exception to that statement was Eric Robert, who accompanied Nathen on piano for a couple songs. They had never met before, but you wouldn't know it to hear them play together. I particularly wish I had a recording of “To Love”, the second song they did, which left the audience completely entranced.
At the end of the night, I heard Dirk tell Nathen, "Thank you so much. That was exactly what I needed tonight." And if that's not the hallmark of a successful concert, I don't know what is.

I wanted to let you know also how much positive feedback I have been getting about you & about our little combo from church folk. Hello Nathen, I was delighted to receive your CD "Little by Little" and honestly felt as I placed it in the car CD player, "Well, I'll give it a try!”. I was thrilled from the first phrase to the last tone of the bell at the variety, diction, phrasing and breath control you demonstrated throughout the tracks. I loved the title song, Breathe and your simply beautiful and powerful rendition of Psalm 96.
I must have played the entire CD at least 5 times since you gave it to me last Friday night (8 days ago) and have already played it to several friends who were equally entranced by your music and lyrics.
You have come a long way since the noisy and somewhat rambunctious teenager of the 70's! Your music shows a spiritual growth and maturity which is a joy to have been a wee bit a part of and to have witnessed.
You have offered to be a musical part of a celebration of the Eucharist (Mass) with me at a time in the future - an occasion to which I will look forward with delight! I shall be purchasing several copies as Christmas gifts for my family and friends. "May God bless the work of your hands" (as my favourite seminary professor and advisor often said to me).

Hi Nathen, Thank you so much for your mighty contribution to our service Sunday. You asked for information on my talk topic and then selected and performed two songs that went beyond perfect. Liked the harmonies at the end of “Longing For Light”. I even thought "It could do with a more complex chord" and then you did it! Can we use this some week for our meditation? Looking forward to more.

It is a joy-filled musical romp to experience the beauty, insightfulness and groove of Nathen Aswell's harmonious creations. When the first delicious phrase of Nathen's compositions greet your ears, you know that you have come upon a delight of pure sonic pleasure and inspiration. This is a man who is clearly connected to Source, and who expresses this cosmic unity with ease and divine grace. To connect with Nathen's music is to soar into a place where pure potential meets creativity. It lifts the listener to a higher dwelling place, evoking the knowing that this is the essence of coming home, inducing the awareness that we are truly the empowered creators of our own reality. Nathen's music is a gift of spirit, and he channels this gift with brilliance.

Working with Nathen Aswell is a delight. He easily worked into our Sunday Celebration and accented the attributes of our program already present. The result was a smooth and effortless expansion of love and light. I would have Nathen back to our Centre any day, in fact, we would love for him to stay. His music and his joy are a gift to all. Thank you Nathen, we are so grateful for all that you have shared. See you soon. Hugs and love!!!!

Thank you, Nathen. I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to tell you how much I appreciated your beautiful music this morning. It put me in such a wonderful place of peace and love as I began my morning sermon. I know that the congregation felt it too. Thank you for sharing your creative spirit with us at Symphony of Life!

A few weeks ago, Nathen attended our service in Kamloops and supplied the music for the whole service. It was so invigorating to sing our regular songs with Nathen and have him lead us. (We usually have a sound system and sing along with a CD; he offered a slightly different tempo and everyone felt very upbeat.) As the service proceeded, spirits rose and energy just buzzed in the room. We had a special event going on and we all were wearing orange. Nathen (the great sport) joined in and put on an orange vest and very quickly became one of us. The most special part of Nathen's visit was the several pieces of his own music he offered during our interludes. What a gift he has. And we were truly blessed that wonderful Sunday. Thanks a lot Nathen.

Hi Nathen - Everyone loved your visit! Several of us noticed a new thing happening - the spontaneous moving and clapping by the congregation was amazing, and something we have not seen before. I think it was the power of the bass (notes on your Stick), as well as the energy of the music. Thank you so much!
Blessings,

Nathen has performed at the Unity Church of Calgary twice for our morning service and has also given 2 solo concerts. His music has always complemented the services and his CD has impressed everyone that has listened to it. I have always been impressed with his professionalism as he has had to perform for us both times coming straight from the airport. His gentle humour and intimate performances have always generated many fine comments from the congregation.

Nathen is a dream to work with! His is the embodiment of sacred service in his musical accompaniment for my Sunday services. His heart-felt lyrics and creative guitar playing make an amazing synergy with any spiritual message. We often co-create the service flow to incorporate his gifts with my message.
The music on his CD "Little by Little" has a wonderful mix of positive music with a message of empowerment and depth. I highly recommend booking Nathen for your Sunday services, for a house concert, and for leading meditations and chanting. His depth of Spirit, combined with his musical talent, is truly a gift to our churches, and to the world!

Before Nathen opens his mouth to sing, before those talented fingers touch the guitar you know you are in the presence of a man who makes beautiful music and offers it generously as a gift to God and anyone lucky enough to be within earshot. Don’t EVER miss an opportunity to listen to this man share his gift!
