Warm greetings, dear Friend!
I hope that you’re well and happy. 🙏🏻
Please forgive me for not being as in touch with you as I’d like to be; in June, I joined a band that has me performing and travelling a LOT – AND, now that summer is behind me and I’m getting more accustomed to that new role, I have more time to return to where my heart is – with MY music and with YOU. 🙏🏻
The news from here:
1) September is always a powerful time of reflection for me. (My birthday is on the 7th, and September is also the month that I walked the Camino in 2019.) The result of this year’s reflection is a desire to ALLOW more of my good to flow into my experience, instead of working so hard to achieve it. (Ah, the joys of being a “recovering perfectionist”!) A quote by Abraham Hicks inspired me to write my latest piece:
2) I’m enjoying performing my “Morning Musings” chants live, AND I’ve come to realize that “chanting” is a term that is hindering my attempts to share this music with as many people as possible. (When people hear that word, I think that they associate the music I’m making with eastern cultures, languages and traditions that are unfamiliar to them.) After some thought, and some important feedback from several people, I’m now going to use the term “Songs for the Soul” instead, and invite people to participate with it in whatever way most speaks to them (singing, dancing, listening, etc). I also think that it would be helpful if I were to find spaces in which to share this music that are NOT churches. (All I need is a living room and some willing folks! If you have any suggestions, please e-mail me!)
3) My intentions for this year are (a) to write a few more “Songs for the Soul” (I’ve now created 146 of them, and I want to get to 150), and then go back and record better versions of the best of them, and (b) complete my book about my Camino experience. (I’m envisioning an e-book with links to photos, videos and music.) I welcome your thoughts and prayers, envisioning me to accomplish these two intentions with Ease and Grace and JOY. Thanks!
So life is GOOD, and I’m feeling truly blessed and happy.
How about YOU, dear Friend? How was YOUR summer? What’s been happening in YOUR experience these days? WHEREVER you are on your journey, I’d love to hear from you, and I welcome any and all suggestions for future Morning Musings or whatever else you’d like to share. Please e-mail me; we’re all in this together, and we have much to learn from each other.
(THANKS for being a part of my journey, and SPECIAL THANKS to all of the kind souls who respond to my newsletters; reading your comments is always a highlight of my month.)
UPCOMING AND ONGOING EVENTS
I’ve now created 146 Songs for the Soul (which you can enjoy any time via my YouTube channel); I continue to serve many churches in both Canada and the U.S. (live, online via streaming, and with pre-recorded videos), as well as many local retirement homes; and I also perform in several local musical groups as a vocalist, bassist, and/or Chapman Stickist.
For more detailed information on any of my performances, including my “Heart Sing” evenings, please click on any date in my online calendar. And if I can serve YOU in any way with my words and music, please know that it would be my great pleasure to do so!
